Agreed 100%. This community still has a ways to go. This needs to be the emphasis for every leader at every game. If you volunteer to lead, you take responsibility for the actions of your players. This is how we will learn and grow.

I don't think saws need higher fps limits. They shoot fine and far the way they are up to 400 fps, learn to shoot better.

Safety kills for snipers and side arms is just good tactics. Isn't the point of being a sniper sneaking around and making long shots? If your always getting within 50ft of your target, then your doing it wrong aren't you? If you want to get within 50ft of your target for a kill, then go with a different style gun, or lower fps bolt, or pull your $30 walmart sidearm and use it, hell, i have a spring pistol i'll give a sniper at the next game.

Also, i've come to the understanding that on safety, your responsible for your own safety in most cases. If your shooting out of a building, out a window, behind a tree, and all your showing is your head and barrel, then expect to get shot in the head/face. If you don't want to ever get shot in the face, buy a mask. Plain and simple. I usually expect to get shot in the face at every game, either because i'm showing just my head, or a stray body shot fly's up and tags me. I've accidentally shot people in the face trying to shoot the body at a safe distance (sorry riddick) but, if he didn't want to get shot in the face, he would have had a mask on.

Your safety is YOUR responsibility, Don't assume the other guy will worry about your safety, take your own precautions.

People should learn to use Safety Kill correctly in general. Most people do it wrong.

Honestly, the "higher FPS for SAW's" argument never made sense to me. Everybody is always complaining about the trigger happy kids with hi-caps running 400 FPS. Why allow the guns with boxmags to have even higher FPS? The benefit to running a SAW is that you have an increased supply of ammo to lay down as suppression. That's it. A SAW can make or break a game only if the operator knows how to use it. Not the "scare" factor of more FPS. Leave Auto's at 400 and learn to use your equipment.

BUT, I do support semi-only FPS increase. Why? Because it is harder to spray with a semi-only and it is more costly to upkeep (as mentioned previously). Also, if a noob simply semi-moded, dropped in a M130, and loaded up with .2's, guess what? The performance he'll be getting will be less than that of a standard AEG. The shots will be all over the place and FPS will drop much faster at range. Alternately, the tech who knows his work, builds to perfection, and shoots for performance will be a noticeable asset to the field. It is extremely hard to build a DMR that is superior to the standard AEG.

tl;dr version: SAW FPS increase? No. Semi-only FPS increase? Yes. Why? In the hands of a noob, it won't make a difference but will allow the real Techs more room to work with.

I think it really depends on the event and the host hosting it. Different games require different rules.

Yeah but then hosts changes rules that impact FPS, then people go and upgrade their AEGs and phony pony when they have to downgrade for other games. Unless you have a quick-swap spring I would not suggest tearing apart your AEG every time you play a different game with different rules. 50fps extra is not worth the wear and tear on opening your gearbox.

I agree with most of what people are saying. Here are my thoughts/arguments...

Training....Sheepdog held a free sniper training a week after he got back from real world sniper school. Why wasn't there 50+ people there? I know for a fact there is that many bolt carriers in this commmunity. I don't even use a bolt and I learned a lot just from going. The snipers at the training were all informed on how to be a better sniper. This should have been mandatory to use a bolt in a game. Regardless of the game. I also think that if any event host wants to post up a game on AP they should have to conform to its rules. Event hosts should not be able to create their own rule sets when it comes to safety, fps limits, or age. We as a community should take a vote and make it all standard. As for age, there is a kid on my team that just turned 16 last week and he is more mature then most of us. Age don't matter, maturity does, and if they're required to take a training class before holding a special role, then that right there would weed out the dipshits.

Safety....even if all of our guns were shooting 200fps we could get a tooth broken at a close enough range. If you don't want to take that risk, wear a mask or don't play. The only place I get shot is in the face. Happens every game. Guess why. Cause that's all I give anyone to shoot at, and believe me, if that's all you give me, I will take the shoot to accomplish my mission. Bottom line don't be a cute kitty, wear protective gear where you want and don't phony pony if you get shoot somewhere not protected.

Saw's shooting faster and harder is going to create more range period!! My kwa m16 shoots a lot further at 400fps then my m4 does at 360fps. Longer barrel + higher velocity and heavier bb means more distance. It would make things more realistic and isn't that why we play airsoft, not paintball. You guys sit on here and talk all day long about wanting to look like an SF operator and then you turn right around and cry cause it hurt when you got shot in the face......

Please, if any one of you whined like that at SF school they would laugh you out of the building. My cousin is in Army SF and him and all of his friends are huge assholes because they know their shot don't stink. I have worked with a few guys formally from 19 in the recent past, and talking with them about airsoft, they don't want to get involved because of the cute kitty's that play. All I can say to cap this off is, have you ever been shot with 9mm simunitions? Nope, that's what I thought. Those hurt, airsoft bb's are nothing.

I think boosting the FPS on support weapons makes sense. The argument about more ammo blah blah is worthless half you guys carry like 20 mags as it is, and I know for a fact I can drop a mag and put in a new on very fast. I actually carry a real 240 on a daily basis here for work, and it is a phony pony to carry around. The idea of a support weapon shooting heavier just adds to the realism, the whole "learn to us your weapon better" thats a joke and applies to a handful of new players. I would much rather have my support gunner do more than just spray at the same range as my m16 or m14 after humping that heavy a$$ gun all the way across the field.

A much better hop-up would do just as good as a higher fps, I've seen my cousins M4 get great range and his fps is under 400fps. Thats all thanks to his great hop-up. Infact he's so good with his hop-up he can acualy contend with my sniper that shoots 545fps. SAW's already have a big box
mag and a good hop-up can get them the range so I don't see the need to raise their FPS.
But on the other hand I can see the appeal to increase the FPS. I'm not the type to really care that much about realism I just want to have fun. But if a SAW was JUST used as a support gunner then ya I can see it but whats to stop people from not even using it for that? I mean I know
people that would carry the big thing around and use it as I use my M4 JUST cause it has a higher FPS. Hell in all honestly it would cross my mind to use it like that as well.

As for the snipers and safety kills personaly when I play I want to shoot people. If they are too close I let them pass or I move out further then take the shot. If they are close and have a chance at seeing me I whip out my sidearm. Infact I cant even bring myself to safety kill someone cause I would feel as if I cheated, not only cheated them but cheated myself out of a great kill shot. If they were too close for my sidearm I think I would just run and hope they don't get a shot out on me. But thats just my personal preference not any sort of rule or suggestion by any means.

I acualy had a sniper rifle for a long time and never used it for one simple reason, I didn't have a sidearm. I waited till I bought a sidearm before even using my sniper rifle. The reason being is because it just made sense. No one told me not too, it just made sense from a safety stand point.

When ever I have a private game I always tell people, "If all your showing is you face then expect to get shot in the face, If your worried about it get a face mask. Shit happens so be prepared for it."

In all honestly if you don't like to get hit in certain places or even any place then armor up or don't play. I agree with rbm33, don't just rely on others to keep you safe. Keep yourself safe too.

I would support the idea of requiring a training/certification for use of bolt action ONLY if the following conditions were met:

1. They are held quarterly, without fail.
2. They are FREE.
3. Nobody is grandfathered in, everybody has to take it.
4. A curriculum is written, agreed upon and adhered to.
5. Pass/fail conditions are based on what you learned and how you test on it, not your shooting SKILL.

If those conditions were met, training classes could work.

I think safety is all of our responsibility. People playing unsafe shouldn't be on the field.

Personally, I don't mind being safety killed. I'll happily take it, rather than getting railed in the face from 10 feet away.

Finally I think classes for certain replicas would be cool. Honestly tho, I think they would happen on a regular basis, but after about 6 months to a year.... The organizers would lose interest, or have real life pop up, and you'd see the training events disapear.

That's why a good curriculum would need to be written. Other volunteers will step up to fill their shoes.
