I'm too paranoid to do anything that would cause an encounter with the police. Anxiety disorders FTW.

The best time was probably at skirmish in Pierce County, where four PCSO deputies came out. 4 squad cars, lights on, we all immediately put our guns down. As soon as they determined we weren't trespassing (we weren't), they spent the next hour admiring our replicas. In fact, the next week two of the deputies went out and bought AEGs, and came to the next skirmish.

Anyone who says cops aren't fun obviously hasn't gone airsofting with one :D

Wasn't that Red Invasion II or III??? That was the night game if I remember correctly.

First AP game ever. It was a skirm right before the first grid 18 up in Gresham. We showed up to the field to see a bunch of players being interviewed by cops.

I've never gotten the cops called however my brother haas. Theres a couple acres of land down the street from my house where we used to skirmish. I was gone that week so I wasn't there. My brother lnet out guns to a bunch of his noobie friends, and someone called the cops and told them there were " kids with guns running around". 2 cops showed up and my brother and his friends started walking away. I would call this stupid but it's not compared to the fact that one of his freinds started running and shooting away from the cops when they told him to stop. They all made it back to my house and my dad had to explain eveything. Now, thanks to their stupidity we can no longer airsoft on this property.

I have never had a run-in with the police. I keep my airsoft guns inside or in a case anytime I am not playing, and I never play where people who don't know what's up can see.

Back when i playing with just Springers and what not I bought my friends clear plastic M14. It was raining so i borrowed a rifle bag. I called my mom and she didn't know where my friends house was so i had to walk down the street to a place that my mom knew so she could pick me up. I ended up near my old elementary school so i sat down in a bench near the parking lot and called my mom. About a minute later a cop car came from the parking lot entrance in front of me and behind me they both stopped and pulled out there guns and the first thing i did was throw my hands in the air and yelled " Its an airsoft gun please don't shoot me" So they put there guns away but kept there hands on them. One cop walked up and checked the gun took out the magazine and was looking at it. he pushed the release button on it and about 25 bbs hit him in the face and chin. the one cop started laughing and i couldn't help but laugh to. They talked to me about how i shouldn't walk down the street with a rifle case because it scares people.

Oh then the other time was when all i had were spring handguns and me and my friend were shooting each other in the front yard of my house and somebody called the cops and said there were little kids shooting each other in there front yard. The weird part is i lived at the end of a dead end road with a culdesac at the end. so all the neighbors knew us.

+1 to the under 18yo on this site. Treat your replicas like a real firearm and you wont make an a$$ of yourself. Reading all of your posts, Its no wonder airsoft has such a bad rep, its like some of you are parading about getting cops called on you. DON'T BE AN IDIOT and ruin this hobby for the rest of us

Probably not best to add fuel to the fire, but this was a semi-old article from my home town about a policeman misjudging a pellet gun for a real one. Let's ignore the obvious that the kid was 17 and didn't have legal ability to purchase one, nor unveil it in a crowded lot. It's merely an interesting article.

This lot is actually along the ONLY road to reach the north end of town. Practically half the population of the city passes by there daily.

Judging by the background of the officer, I'm not surprised nor worried of the issue. It was found that the kid was in the wrong. Enough said.

The best thing we can do to preserve this hobby/sport is to keep it out of the public's eye.

There's a reason we drive out to the sticks to play.
Don't sport your battle rattle in public areas. It makes people nervous.

I couldn't say it any better

Some people don't realize some military weapons can't be used by civilians. The M16 I can Understand the confusion with the AR15 and other models for civilians to use.

I used to play airsoft in a terribly public location. At first, since they were clear plastic stuff, it was totally cool with the cops.

But when you play at night, they come out in force. I'm going to leave it at that for now. Suffice it to say, my friend almost got any member of our group at the time killed.

Very well said. This is why I cringe when I see the stuff on the other post regarding the BATF and the Tacoma AS seizure. Too many people have no clue and they tend to over react when they see this kind of stuff. Then they want legislation passed etc. Oregon has several very anti gun activist senator/legislators.
