Even after an hour or two of youtube, forums, and explanations, friends of mine still thought Airsoft was just a group of 15-year-old, obese nerds scampering about aimlessly in order to fulfill some COD or Battlefield craving sought out by their imaginations. And at times, this belief is not entire false, alas, I should think one is now able to see my intentions.

Your friends are right. Come to a game, you'll see.

Anyway if you try to make us all sound like a bunch of bad asses, then we come across as some crazy militia training for the apocalypse. You're damned if you do, damned if you don't. Airsoft is a hobby enjoyed by people from all walks of life, from nerds to the cool kids.

I would advise you against submitting any article to mainstream media, but if you do, don't put my name on it. Thanks.

Better yet don't do it at all.

We don't need to be in the media. So what if people get the "wrong" idea. Its human nature to look down upon things we don't understand. If the public(or your friends) had a brain they could easily Google airsoft, and 20+ site will explain to them exactly what Airsoft is.

And sorry to burst your bubble but http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airsoft Its already been done.

Wow.
I Thank everyone so much for their counsel/forewarning and valuable perspectives: there were many I had not thought about, and many I was unaware of being new to Airsoft.

In the last few hours I have analyzed many sources on the controversy and concern of Airsoft guns/rifles in the USA, as well as the delicate balance this sub-culture has in our society. I am stating now that I was unaware of the seriousness and fragility of Airsoft in the media (as well as how it is interpreted by society and this sub-culture) when I submitted the original post on this topic.

In light of what has been discussed, as well as what I have ascertained from responses in this thread, I have decided not to write an article proposal, nor contribute to anything being published on this sub-culture.

I apologize for my ignorance and thank everyone that has given me guidance, knowledge, and perspective on this topic.

Thank you. I'm glad you changed your mind. If people really wanted to know what Airsoft is they should come out, and try it out themselves.

Hey Matt! Can I get a high-five for Dreary early-days games and in-depth conversation about rediculously complex scenarios that boiled down to 'find that guy and kill him' with lots of pointless story? =p

Aaah the good old days. =p

Shogo bitches. Shogo.
With all the pretty flowers and twigs in your ghillie.. perhaps you should take up gardening?

I was playing in the late nineties. Mcnair, we were playing in the late nineties.

Then I left to join Army and played a bit in Alaska. Airsoft blew up in 2005 with AP and I guess eventually Riddick the BB Monger moved in and tried to make it popular. There have always been retards.

It's grown quite a bit.
