For many new players that come out to the airsoft field there is a big draw to be a sniper. Many of us have seen "Snipers" in movies and played the roll's of "Snipers" in video games, however there is an gigantic gap between, our want to be a sniper, and what it takes to become a, working, knowledgeable, piece of equipment, both in your mind and in your hands.
Too often we see new players go out and get a budget Sniper Rifle, a rifle that would need a so many upgrades to make it a reliable piece of equipment, that could hit at the ranges a airsoft sniper will need to be shooting at in order to make the weapon itself field ready. In the end you will be dropping the same amount of cash on your budget gun + upgrades, that a nicer gun, that needs less upgrades would have run you.
It's less about the fact you want to buy a cheap gun, and more about the fact we see this A LOT... Players who want to be a sniper, but don't have the money = players who aren't ready to BE a sniper. A
good sniper could do his job with an M4, or an M92f for that matter. Being a sniper isn't about the rifle in your hands it's about the how you become one with whatever equipment you are using and one with the world around you, in how you move, how you act, and how you react.
If you have trained to do all those things and can virtually become invisible, then tell me why would you want the weakest part of your load out to be the weapon? You just spent the last 120 min's crawling nose deep in the weeds. You are on the door step of your enemy, the enemy CO is standing in your cross hairs and you are prepared to take make
your first shot and possibly the greatest shot on the entire field that day. You pull the trigger. Do you want to be saying to yourself, "Damn, I kick a$$" or "Damn I wish my rifle hadn't pulled to the left, giving away my position, and now I have to bug out, or get shot"
Because that is the can be the difference between a budget gun and a expensive sniper rifle.
And as a final note... (all prices pulled form Airsoft Outlet NW)
5000 .20g @ $12.00 = .0024¢
3800 .25g @ $12.00 = .0031¢
3500 .28g @ $16.00 = .0045¢
3000 .30g @ $16.00 = .0053¢
1000 .36g @ $9.00 = .009¢
1000 .40g @ $10.00 = .01¢
Sniper rounds aren't cheap via comparison... You want to save money, start bu not being a sniper.
