Why are people hatin' on hicaps?

Discuss anything and everything here that's Airsoft related.

For the record, you can "spray and pray" with midcaps. Just follow me around some game. I prefer the term "cover fire," but whatever works. Granted, I carry around 10 midcaps.

Seriously, though, I understand the KWA mag issue that concerns you. My suggestion to you is to go to AONW (or your favorite online supplier) and buy the 8 pack of those 120 round plastic midcaps (not sure who makes them, I'm sure someone will pipe up). They were relatively cheap and about 2/3 of them fit with no problems. The others worked fine after 5 minutes with a knife shaving down down the "slop" around the top of the mag.

i could care less about hicaps. ive got a couple of guns where hicaps are the only option for them. its far cheaper to buy a couple hicaps for guns i only use once in a while than to buy a load of mids.

ive got a full load of mids for my ARs when necessary, but i dont see anything wrong with someone having just one or two hicap mags. i can see both sides of the argument, and accept either. that being said, most of the people i know who use a couple hicaps do it because its cheaper and easier, not so they can run and spray bbs all over the place all day. they want to go out and have fun but not have to invest in a hundred bucks worth of magazines.

not all games are midcap only. the ones that are, are because the organizers want to more closely replicate some semblance of realism.

also, i know for a fact that a ton of you guys that are always saying "oh i run all mids because its more realistic and i am awesome" carry one or two hicaps hidden away for when you shoot off all of your mids and you don't want to go back and reload.

Midcaps work better for me personally. I shoot conservatively (for the most part), I like how they don't rattle, and as PAPA.K said reloading in battle gives more realism and a rush.

Since both of the AEGs I've owned have been KWA, I can tell you that the MAG 130rd midcaps word just fine in them.

So do the S-Arms 160rd midcaps, and I've heard (though I haven't tried them myself yet) that the new MAG 190rd metal midcaps work as well.

I think it was these, actually. I bought them for the price, figuring (ironically) that I'd be only using them for the occasional game that didn't allow high-caps. Little did I know. 8 mags for 60 bucks.

would the MAG midcaps feed a KWA without any alteration necessary?

Again, the only alteration needed was 5 minutes of shaving off the excess plastic (obvious as heck) around the top of the mag. It was a no-brainer when I looked at it. Even a 16-year-old could figure that out. Further most of them worked just fine with no alterations.

Only the mag in the gun rattles, if you fill 'em up really good and pack the BBs in there

The mag 190s are rather hit and miss with the KWAs I bought a box and only got 3 of of the 5 to work. I like the RS as they are all working for me.
Shooting and Photography are alike, everyone will tell you how awesome they are. Few people are that good at either.

but can a 16 year old with the attention span of a 13 year old figure that out? ;)

The argument of rattle is moot anyway, along with most of what Jester pointed out, as it's an argument why one themselves would not use a hi-cap, and not an argument as to why they'd be disallowed for use at all, which if I'm not mistaken, is the core of the complaint.

The only answer is an unrealistic, or excessive, quantity of BBs per reload.
