Polarstar rules in the NW

Postby Trench » Fri Nov 29, 2013 9:50 am

I have a P* and plan to use it at games I attend in the NW. I do not cheat. ie change nozzles, crank up the pressure, or adjust anything in the field post crono. I like to play fair.

My question for the community as AP appears to be the sanctioning body/voice of the players is;

Do any local fields have Polarstar specific rules?

If I read it and understand it correctly, Camp R&R does puts some serious restrictions on them. I agree with the tournament locks on the regulator and receiver. Also I do agree with the 400 FPS limit and the spot checks. I personally run at 340 with the blue nozzle.
My issue with the R&R restrictions is, even at 3 round burst the 1 sec pause between trigger pulls. While most good running AEG's can hit 15-20 rps. That leaves a difference of 12-17 BB's (if both parties start firing at each other at same time). I would like to see a Ploarstar rule that has the user set the fire control unit to a reasonable rate of fire while using the 3 round burst function or even would go as far a set them to semi only with no pause.

I understand Camp R&R policy's, and get that they are a sovereign business with the right to make their own rules as they need to apply them. But ouch.

All event coordinators have their own rules. Iirc someone used a p star at the last msw game. Btw, ap isn't a governing body, we just don't allow games posted on this forum that exceed certain limits.

I believe I can help with the camp R&R questions. The reason for the strict regulations is a history plagued with bad situations involving polar stars. Most of these offenses have been committed (as far as I'm aware) by one person. Because of this stubby tends to dislike polar stars. However if you are responsible he will let you use yours to a reasonable point. I've seen guys out there with polar stars who have been allowed around 28-30 rps. It all depends on how considerate and responsible you are.

Don't be a tool, stick to the host's FPS rules, and don't use it at more serious MilSim games, and you'll be good to go.

Why would you not be using it at a Milsim? Because of the visible hose?

Partially that, and partially because anything over 12-16 RPS on a rifle isn't MILSIM. Having the same fire support on a rifle as a normal AEG SAW is a game changer in terms of MILSIM.

Mostly that.

I've met A LOT of Polarstar users who only use their guns "on semi" to get more range, but as soon as the shooting starts, in every single case, they're firing 50-100 round bursts out of an M4. The only Polarstars I don't have issues with at MilSim games are SAWs, meaning M249s and variants, and 240s.
