Airsoft shooting in Columbia county

Postby Payback » Sun Nov 24, 2013 9:15 pm

So, some kids I'm assuming, shot windows out of some cars while people were in them. They found airsoft ammo.

Here is the facebook post from the columbia county sheriff's office. Hope they find them, hope people get smarter about this.

The Sheriff's Office is seeking information leading to the identification of a suspect or suspects who shot the windows of four different vehicles on Canaan Rd. near Merrill Creek Rd. yesterday. No one was injured, but children were passengers in at least two of the vehicles, and one of the children was a 1-month-old infant positioned near the window when it shattered.

Deputies searching the area recovered an "air-soft" ammo round in the vicinity of from which they believed the shots had been fired. The shots took place between 1:40 and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 23.

Anyone with information regarding this crime can call dispatch at (503) 397-1521. Please leave a message for Deputy Troy Caldwell.

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty

Doubt it was an airsoft gun. Takes a lot more power to break glass. I'm gonna go with .177 pellets or an actual BB gun.

Just cuz they found 1 airsoft round doesn't mean shit.

Yeah, I'm skeptical on airsoft considering how many games we've had vehicles in and haven't had a broken window. We've had cracked windows on old cars, that's about it.

Worst I've seen was Randal breaking the side mirror on a truck... That and shooting out the windows on that old house at Ivan's farm, but those windows were already broken, and not tempered glass.

Yeah, I've seen plenty of mirrors broken.

When I was in jr high we broke the rear window on a hatch back with a pump bb gun. We pumped it up a bunch and shot it from a couple feet away. It just spiderwebbed the whole thing.

A high power sniper gun like would break the windows I would think. I've broken beer bottles (yes different but still glass) with my snipe gun that shoots 560 fps at about 20ft away. Still need to find the kids that did this!!

Airsoft bbs can break glass. I've seen plenty of shot out windows, on varies airsoft websites. Normally associated with Bioval BBmax .27g Clear bbs. (Or guns shooting very high FPS wise.)

To this day I still see threads pop up about these bbs doing nasty things to glass.

Please note that I myself have not tested these bbs.
