airsoftgi.com, airsoftoutletnw.com, evike.com, and some smaller retailers here and there.

good place to start.
gun. battery, charger, and spare mags.

you can get mags for cheaper for sure, but the flash mags are great since they dont require winding, you just pull the string down 3-4 times and it winds the mag up completely. (only get lonex if you do though).

If 20 is too expensive for a spare mag, thats perfectly understandable. You can find others for around the 9-15 dollar range.

Best places in Portland area are Thunderkiss NW in Vancouver (East of I-205) and Airsoft Outlet NW (Hillsboro/Cornelius). I've bought LOADS of great gear at both stores, but I find TKNW to be more convenient and have better prices.
For the love of GOD and all things holy, buy local. It'll save you the trouble of buying from a huge company, and service is better in person than online.

For your first AEG and just getting started I have to agree with switchback. All the local guys will be more than happy to help you find what best works for you.

As a consumer the best advice I can give you is Do Your Research look for reviews on YouTube, airsoft forums, talking with local shop owners about the AEG's you want to buy, Look up buying guides and guides to Airsoft AEGs. Google is your best friend.

one last thing cheap does not always mean good.
There is no 'overkill.' There is only 'open fire' and 'I need to reload.
