Crappy AEG's for the win

Postby Alien_Hunter » Sun Jun 09, 2013 8:46 pm

Yesterday I traded a gas gun for a heavily used SRC m4, metal body. The range is absolute crap, 70 feet shooting straight w/ hop all the way on. So I started tilting the barrel upwards and lobbing bb's out to 150 ft and getting kills. Despite being beat up and short ranged, the gun's really grown on me. I think everyone has had an AEG like this at some point.

Tear it apart, clean it up (clean and reshim all the gears, fresh lithium grease, teflon tape, clean and polish the barrel) and put it back together and see what a difference that makes ;)

My cheap JG M4 was a hell of a work-horse. I think I paid $95 for it. But it consistently shot 400 fps and the gearbox is still running years later, although it's terribly inaccurate with it's shit hop-up. They all break down from time to time, regardless of the price or how many expensive parts - sometimes it's nice just to buy cheap AEGs because you know sooner or later they'll break, you can always just replace em.

I gotta check the hop up. It shoots straight just not very far. Also the receiver parts are REALLY tight. Tight as in I cannot separate the two halves nor will I revert to my hammer-bashing tactics.

My favorite crappy AEG had to be the Galaxy Mk5s that they had out a while back. $100 for a pretty solid gun. Surprisingly, my friend who has it now is running it and it still fires great, even though we've shot at least 40,000 rounds through the thing(including 10,000 Walmart .12s.), I've dropped it in mud, cracked a part of the receiver, fried the battery, dropped it tens of times, it runs with no fuse(I removed it when I first got it), we've ran a friend's 11.1v LiPo on it a whole day without death, and its been through some very stormy Washington days without receiving a relube. Somehow, It's still running strong, it's incredible. If they didn't discontinue the gun, I'd probably buy two more and upgrade them to high hell.

We nicknamed it "Thomas, the little gun that could". ;P
