2-Gun Style Event

Postby Jester316 » Thu Jan 24, 2013 10:18 pm

I'm trying to gauge interest on a 2 gun style event that would encompass moving from target to target utilizing both handguns and rifles in a time sensitive course.

The reason I'm seeing if there is any interest is that I have a line on an indoor space in the Portland area never used for airsoft that would work great for this, but I want to make sure there is interest in it before I make the arrangement's.

I'd run it as a fun event, not a competition. Maybe make a special sig bar for the fastest time or something fun like that...

Sounds like some fun to me, though indoor can be a little iffy, I think. You'd definitely have to take mag restrictions into account, because outdoor I'll drop my mag on a 2/3-gun, but probably not indoor, so there would be a bit of inequality especially on the handgun side of things.

Just the first things to pop into my head. I'm sure the guys running the LM4s would probably agree that it could be a sticking point, as if they fumble a reload with retention they may be out a $60 mag.

I'd probably be up for it. Ya know, depending on details and life and stuff.

A little more information:

Location: Portland Area (southern to be more specific)

Mag Restriction: I'd probably keep it to 30rd max in rifles and 15 in pistols. There would be 1 or 2 mandatory reload stations just to help make it more stressful

Place to drop the mags: I would set a table with a box on it with a pillow (or other soft item) to catch the magazines at the reload stations. This give you piece of mind that the mags aren't being dropped on concrete, and you know exactly where they will be after the round

Layouts: I would ideally like to get 2 or even 3 different layouts throughout the day. Targets would be like at Summer Slaughter II with cardboard and a metal target to indicate a good hit.

Can I bring real guns? 2/3 gun events have been tried in the past with the CAGE guys and SOTA, but haven't taken off because it's hard to judge airsoft weapons accurately, and when you start getting enough money to make an airsoft gun accurate enough for something like this, or want to do something like this, you just jump over to real guns as these events are already present with a better system.

Though after they TAKE OUR GUNS this will probably be a more popular option in airsoft form.

Dan, the way that I ran it at Summer Slaughter worked incredibly well. The targets were reactive so you knew if it was a good hit. I also shadowed the person and called out hits/misses. Beyond that, there was no prize for the winner, just the satisfaction of having the best time. So, no one had any desire to cheat...
