Airsoft in the public eye, again.

I dont have much info on this, but i figured id share it(its another story with stupid immature people with flaunting Airsoft guns in public)

http://www.kptv.com/story/19309160/police

The story is about a alleged car theif, but he was shooting a .45 out of the car, and pulled out an assault rifle(which is airsoft) but chickened out before shooting it. Most likely to look cool in front of the camera.

Basically the guy takes a video of himself shooting guns out of his car windows, posted them on youtube and facebook. And just looks like a total tool.

I bet some idiot politician is going to look at this and think that airsoft guns should be banned because of incidents such as these. That's what caused SB798 to sprout (only to be put back down) and then SB1315 which will most likely be signed into law by the CA Governor in the near future.

This kid would think he's real "gangster" if he actually got shot by the cops for flashing those guns to them.

He is a really good kid that just got mixed up in drugs and the wrong crowd "from MOM" Cmon guys don't judge him.

Okay, umm this POS randomly fires a .45 caliber pistol outside the car in what appears to be a residential area and showed a general lack of respect for life when doing so and talks about running over someone. He also stole the items from his uncle and could have hurt the passenger in vehicle when he was wildly handling the firearm.

Drugs or not. He still should know right from wrong and most idiots show remorse "after they have been caught"

This video piece isn't really about airsoft but what it shows time and time again is that the only time airsoft does generally get mentioned in the news is from NON law abiding citizens.

Small incidents with airsoft guns like this will always happen. But as far as I'm concerned, if there is a scumbag like this committing the act "idiot politicians" really don't have much to work with. What do you think they will say to get a bill in motion? "Well, Richie Richerson here with a spiderweb tattooed onto his face decided it would be a good idea to brandish an airsoft gun in a stolen car as if it were a real firearm. We should remove airsoft guns from this earth because Richie is a bad guy and you don't want your community to be like Richie." Yeah, fat chance huh? Honestly this type of incident isn't even worth worrying about because this type of incident will always happen. Focus your attention on the actual legislation and bills attempting to be passed. Hell, half of us aren't even old enough to vote on this sort of thing, and 95% of the people on this forum aren't even from the problem area (California) for airsoft regulation so why do we need to be concerned with this?

The west coast is a major problem area for this. Anywhere could be a potential problem spot for this stuff. Last year, I believe it was, Frisco, Texas, banned airsoft guns. I used to live in Frisco. It's one of the most gun-friendly regions in the country, but they did it because they were given a reason to.

It usually comes around to parents being idiots (note: mentally retarded) with their children, buying them a visually realistic toy, and not giving them restrictions on the usage of it. So, nothing you can do except spread the word as best you can.

You the best way to keep airsoft with a good reputation is to manage it. Even if we don't like it airsoft is growing around the country. Instead of lamenting about the random bad press you go out and talk to the press about our hobby. We need to show people that we are reasonable people who care about safety. Instead of complaning we should be proactive and contact the press to show that these are the bad apples and not the norm.
I'm a major chairsofter, sorry about that.

We should be concerned because if the bill in CA (SB1315) gets passed, it will eventually lead to other states doing the same. The original bill (SB798) came into existence because of an incident with stupid kids playing airsoft in a public park and then the cops came along and shot them, knowing that they were not real guns that the kids were playing with.

I realize that the airsoft gun in the video was barely visible for most of it, but we should still pay attention to things like this just in case.
