so not all of this is new, but i wanted to post my nearly complete new kit.

up top is a one piece TT MAV in ranger green, with the X-harness. ive modified the rig with a buckle at the right rear attachment point under my right armpit which makes the one piece MAV + X-harness MUCH easier to put on and take off.

the middle has a foliage battle harness from slingsonly.com holding up an older black BHI rigid duty belt with a TT pad attached to it.

hung from the belt are a condor dropleg panel (going to replace with a TT one in RG soon, and i plan to make it swappable between the grenades and a dump pouch) housing three thunder B grenades, and my built up WE 1911 in a safariland 6004-5322. also on the belt are a condor double pistol mag pouch and condor pistol lanyard.

i honestly wasn't expecting the suspenders to make much of a difference, but along with the TT pad the change in weight distribution and comfort is immense. i was also worried about getting in and out of the one piece MAV with the X-harness, but adding the buckle makes it just as easy as any other chest rig that doesn't open in the front.

I'm diggin the trend to go lighter these days. Seems like everyone for a while there was going just plate carriers, and now they're going to actually sensible loadouts. Good loadout there, Josh.

Actually, if you want to go lighter you are better off sticking everything on your chest or belt than on your legs. Its science :D

Or just legs and belt. Lower center of gravity ;)

Well shit, since he didn't really explain it, I might as well. You should put you gear on a chest rig and a belt, molle or other, and not your legs. You want to do this because when you put things on you legs, it creates an extra amount of weight that your legs have to move, along with the limitations of range of motion. It causes you to be slower, and normally clumsy too. Plus it is a lot less shit to take off during a break in the game. Real science. ;)

Remember kids, if you put stuff on your chest it's unaffected by gravity.

Attaching things to your feet will create a lower center of gravity as well, but you dont see anyone doing that.

What quigly said is spot on.

"However, the weight must be carried and certain locations on the body affect energy cost more than others. Weight added to legs and feet costs more energy. A half-kilogram added to the thighs costs 3.5% more O2 while running. So carrying a pistol on the waist belt costs less energy than carrying it in a drop holster (coordination is less affected as well). A half-kilogram added to the feet costs 7% more oxygen. Add an extra kilo to the feet and it costs 10%, or about 1% per 100g (roughly 4 ounces). If you cut the weight of your boots by 1kg you decrease oxygen/ energy cost dramatically. Although a heavier boot may be more efficient in certain situations (boots are tools), lightweight footwear improves an operator's coordination, agility, speed, and power, especially as terrain steepens."-Mark Twight

Then [Science stuff.]

Actually what he said was wrong, though I think he understands the correct science behind it he worded it incorrectly. What he said implied that things on you chest doesn't add weight to what you're legs have to move.

What you said was correct. You're legs move farther than your chest when you move so you have to move that weight (On your legs) farther, requiring more work.

Jesus guys...
If you like it on your legs, put it there.
If you like it on your chest, put it there.
If you like it both places, yay for you; put it there.
