I laid here in the snow for at least 45 minutes defending this position and never got a chill.
Here is what I wore.
Matterhorn boots with 600 gm of Thinsulate and Thorlo boot socks. Use new socks whenever possible for best warm.
Light thermal underwear.
Loose Under Armor shirt.
Henley shirt
ACU uniform
German Flecktarn Goretexs shell (Top & Bottom)
Ski gloves
Neck warmer
Winter knit hat.
Oh, and if you are going to use a SAW or LMG, get a sled and tow the gun behind you. Then then swing it in front of you when you make contact, hit the ground and fire away. It's the only way to fight with a heavy gun in the snow.
Cheapest sled I found is a vintage British snow sled.
