c02 flashbangs, they worth it? Thunder B

Postby glockmeister » Sun Jun 13, 2010 9:25 pm

I can buy a whole set new for 33 bucks, 12 shells and the firing pins and lever too use it. I was wondering, are they worth it? I go to field games, and the recent one I went too there was a guy using em, I heard em all the way across the field. Are they useful? Worth buying? Also, the guy has this red paint over the grenade so when it blew up the dry paint specs blew up everywhere. Is there a certain way to do it? Also what parts need too be replaced after use?

Could I just use them too annoy the crap out of people who are bunkering up or something? Or are they just extra weight?

Ah ha, what if I throw it then shoot. An example of today, I had my m203 with a foam ball at sniperz den today, I was about too shoot into the door and kill everyone and I got hit, would it be a good combo with the m203? Like throw the flashbang then m203 or spray? Or even just for cover?

That sounds like CQC to me. Flashbangs are good for two things- stunning people inside a room when you are unable/unwilling to kill everyone inside, and annoying people. I agree with Nasty, unless you get really creative with them they aren't much help outside.
That said, they may have some potential against snipers.

sorry said that wrong, I was about to shoot in a door way in a outdoors building. I almost did but I got hit. What if I am a sniper? Are they good to chuck em and run for another spot to snipe?

They ARE pretty worthless as field grenades...but that doesn't stop me from carrying them for the occasional "Run into enemy bunker screaming bloody murder BANG!"

Think of it like this. Flashbangs are intended for use in CQC situations. CQC= close quarters combat. So fighting in or around bunkers, trenches, buildings, cars, trucks, airplanes, boats, ...
If you're fighting around 15 feet for whatever reason, it's CQC. Lone outdoor buildings are CQC wen you get near them.

As a sniper, probably not. I play with a lot of pretty good snipers down here in Southern Oregon, and end up hunting them most of the time. If they light off a flashbang I'd know where they were. And flashing someone at range gets a little sketch, you end up relying more on luck than anything else.

Usually with flashbangs, you're restricted to underhand throwing them or rolling them into a structure/bunker. (for safety) This makes using them at games a little harder then replica grenades. Which you can throw overhand.

Also, the dense vegetation will suck up a lot of the noise. Flashbangs are meant to be used in solid surface enfironments so the noise will reverberate and really shazaam with peoples minds. Outdoors, it's more of a unidirectional blast that lets everyone know where the grenade landed.

I've used my Thunder B's at Op: Thunderstrike & the only thing they did was let people know they were "dead" when I tossed them into a bunker. Is it neat? Kinda, but honestly I was just as effective throwing them in inert as when they were armed with CO2.

I think I will probobly get some for a field game, I know that the sound isn't the loudest outside but I heard it all the way across the field at op resurrection. I might get it as just something cool to have or like android said, throw the, in a bunker or just throw the inert ones. They are smaller then tennis balls and I have a nice utility pouch so I'll put 1 too 2 in there.
