Doesn't really work when we're criticizing the actions of individuals and not society as a whole, like the result of revealing the existence of aliens living among us to the entire human population.

In this case it was the person that was dumb, and the people with the sense to know it.

Well let's analyze that, shall we? What about this guy's choosing suicide by cop was dumb? He knew he wanted to die, and he knew that producing and brandishing a replica gun before armed law enforcement would probably get him that result. It was a deliberate action, not a neglectful accident that transpired because of ignorance. How was he dumb?

the quote was more in response the the statement "what happened to smart america".

There was more in that article than that boy. Also the "suicide by cop" is a theory alleged by his mother.

Let's assume she's right, though.

How was he dumb?

Involving innocent people in your death is bleeding dumb, and probably short sighted.

Replace bleeding dumb with wreckless, wasteful, and tragic. You're using 'bleeding dumb' as a blanket statement to convey your disgust towards the situation, and not describing the person involved beyond that.

I had a whole reply ready. I even found a way to work in anti-republicanism and everything. ;)

for the record, Hawaii gun laws are insane, I like the article because they went and found a good rep for the airsoft side of the story not some pissed off mother or dumb 14 year old.

I think its a good idea for the penalty of using an airsoft gun in a crime to be stiffened. Maybe then we can stop hearing about kids getting shot because they were carrying an airsoft rifle around. I think however there would be a fine line between mandating a penalty for using one in a crime and trying to ban them outright as a way to cut down on the crimes that involve one. I have to say though that most airsoft players wouldn't consider using an airsoft rifle in a crime at least I hope not.

This has to be the funniest thing I've seen in days. Thank you.
