Cidasoft airsoft grenades

I just seen this for the first time. They look cool but think they could get a little dangerous if you do a bad mix.

Care to go into more detail? Did they not give a large blast radius? Were they unreliable? Did the plastic shrapnel gouge out the eyes of children?

They were un-reliable.. The timing was based on the chemical reaction.
Just asked Chapped about them..
At an event he charged one, and threw it. It didn't explode. 10 minutes later,Chapped went and picked it up to dispose of it. While caught in conversation it exploded in his hand.. The explosion was quite dynamic, I heard it from about 75 yards away. It sounded like a flash bang..

Your better off with Mentos and coke..

I'd just be pissed off about Baking soda and citrus getting in my face and on my gear.

It doesn't seem to have a good AOE (area of effect) on any target. and to use that in the woods with thick brush. It would suck, and even in CQC it could work okay. But still not a good enough AOE, for me.

In addition to previously stated problems, my problem with them is you still have to retrieve the Tube/ Spoon piece. If i am going to get a grenade I want something I can throw and forget, especially in a outdoor setting.
Warning: If you are feeble and cringe at the sound of metal your face might implode.

This reminds me of the Argentina brand AG-01 and AG-02 grenades, which were based on the citric acid/baking soda/water mixture.
I bought a 6 pack of these, and they worked 'ok', in that they were more for sound awareness than blast radius. So many times, people have thrown a dummy grenade and the target doesnt know about it. These had a nice POP to them so when they were thrown, everyone in the impact radius would know they were dead.
These kinds of grenades only work well if everyone on the field can agree what the kill radius for them is, how to judge the distance on said kill radius (you'd be surprised on how many people cant measure 10 feet by eye..) and most importantly, all of the players have to honor their deaths.
The timing of these kinds of grenades is guesswork at best, depeding on how 'hot' you mix it. I played around with my AG01's and found if you goose them with a little more citric acid, they go off faster...well, if its warm.
If its cold outside, these things are pretty much useless.
