A new challenger has appeared! Greetings from Vancouver, WA

Postby Invictus_722 » Wed Oct 05, 2011 3:36 pm

Greetings! I'm new to the scene here, just wanting to get my feet wet and hopefully learn the ropes and the particulars. Originally from Vancouver, WA, I enlisted into the Navy right after high school, got my first orders for submarine duty out in Pearl Harbor, HI on board the USS Key West (hence the 722 in my name, the hull number of the boat) as an Auxiliary Machinist Mate. Was introduced to paintball on an Air Force base and loved it; the competitiveness and the thrill, and also good exercise to boot. Figured I'd do Airsoft as it seems more economically feasible in my eyes. A buddy of mine introduced me to Airsoft and it really intrigued me. Right now I just put in an order to get a KJW Sig Sauer p226 Full Metal, and am currently deciding on what type of rifle I should get, but I'll wait till I get available funds to play around with. Again, I lurked around here for a bit and I'm really impressed and humbled at all of the information everyone provides to all the new people, as well as the stickies posted. Thanks again and hopefully I'll see a lot of you out on the field.

Just to let you know, if there are any games on Saturday, I can't play...Shabbos and all of that good stuff (actually non-religious but I should have went to the Catholic service in boot so I could get a little bit of wine, would have made holiday routine a bit better)

Thanks, and yes, Hawaii is nice, but considering it's a massive rock, spending four years out there got a bit boring quite honestly, plus i wasn't a big fan of water activities (funny that I don't like the water and I joined the Navy, I always knew I was a bit off-the-mark)

Been looking at Rifles online at Airsoft Outlet...

Postby Invictus_722 » Wed Oct 05, 2011 6:13 pm

So I've had my eye on a KWA KM4 SR10 Full Metal, was wondering about thoughts and opinions...figured Full Metal sounds pretty reliable and not many indoor places in the northwest, not have to worry about CQB? That's my thinking and reasoning; get equipment suited for area and play style most commonly found. Any reviews about potential defects or accelerated/unusual wear-and-tear, or first-hand owners who could say how it feels, etc.? Also thanks to everyone for the warm welcomes.

KWAs are some of the more solid guns you can buy.

Worry about outdoor kit first, then when you get hooked consider investing in CQB gear. CQB games don't happen as often but we do find CQB venues from time to time and we do use them.

Good deal, I think once I get the appropriate funds that I can spend, I think I may head down to Airsoft Outlet personally and check it out for myself, the website claims that "...this AEG is ideal for anyone looking for a good compromise between CQB and outdoor combat..." hopefully when I head down there my eyes don't fall out of the sockets when I walk through the door like a kid at Christmas.

In that case, you're f***ed! Leave your credit card(s) at home...fair warning
