Home made dummy grenades

Postby Patrick750 » Sun Jun 13, 2010 11:14 pm

At the pacifica wars I saw some dude with tennis balls and a weird thing at the top. I assume they were home made dummy grenades. They looked simple enough and the bright green would make them easier to pick up after they're thrown. Those tennis balls seemed like a great alternative then to go and buy some over priced piece of fancy grenade shaped foam. My question is how do you make those tennis ball grenades or any other homemade grenade for that matter.

Why would you even want to waist your time on making a custom grenade, a tennis ball works fine, or if you have an m203, foam golf balls =)

Many events require that dummy grenades look like actual grenades. Therefore just using a tennis ball is a no-go.

Tennis ball + Cork + black/OD spray paint = decent looking M67 replica

I know, I'm just saying, a tennis ball is an easy way to go most times...

That would most likely be me. I had three of them hanging from my triple M4 stack mag pouch.

It's not that hard. Get a knife, cut a x-shaped slot in the top of the tennis ball. After your mom brings you home from the ER for cutting your hand or leg open, stick a cork in the tennis ball. Paint with OD paint.

Others use a piece of 1/2" (width) PVC pipe that's 3/4" or so long and glue it with hot glue to tennis ball and then paint it. That's probably your best option as there's no sharp object involved--the worst you can do there is burn yourself with the hot glue.
