A comrade down here stumbled upon this: http://airsoftdigest.com/airsoft_digest ... ymore.html

Sounds like it'll kick bb's out to 15-20ft

Well that looks cheap, durable, and easy to build! I may put one together sometime. Thanks for the link!

Legs like that can be done with the 98 cent shelf brackets @ home depot right now. Easy peezy.

on prob with his design you have to pull out the pin to the side, so if u wanted it to have a trip wire that woudnt work better would be a spring loaded on closing at top, so hinge falls down open, so wire there

short version for some people the pin that hold the trap closed has to be pulled from the side, making it impossible to have a trip wire

That can be cured by fiddling/manufacturing a home made widget similar to the old beer bottle tops that lever off, an armature that flips down over the face of the clay and is pulled either from the front (the line hooks to the face of the armature) or from behind (line hooked to the 'tail' of the armature.

The spring tension would hold the armature in place until the line is tripped, firing the mine.

Something like this:

The trigger line goes under the rear of the trigger, through the space left in the block holding the trigger and out in front of the mine. The line is brought tight and the armature is pulled down, letting the face of the mine open and set it off. The arm is of course pinned on, letting it swivel.

I think I just found a way to upgrade my old Rat Trap airsoft mine. I've still got 4 or 5 lying around. This could be a fun project.
