Spring Knife?

The spring knife is to much of a fear factor weapon. If you shoot it off and don't hit a vital spot the person can still attack you.

See, here's the problem: There is exactly ONE 100% guaranteed quick kill spot with a knife. Its application has nothing in the world to do with the knife being thrown or otherwise becoming a ballistic object. There are no guarantees outside of that one area, and thus this knife lends itself only to be used in the most extreme circumstances. I say "extreme" in the truest sense... you have no ammo for your rifle, you have no rifle or e-tool to beat the other guy with... your leg is caught in a bear trap and your assailant is 10 feet outside of arms reach, dialing his cell phone to call his buddy in to shoot you because he too is otherwise unarmed. Under those circumstances I believe it would be a prudent option to use the ballistic function of the knife.

You are better off keeping the knife and fighting with it. Even with a back up fighting knife I wouldn't want to bother with it.

Indeed. Throwing knives for anything other than entertainment is retarded. You are GIVING your opponent a weapon, because he is NOT going to be taken out of the fight in a suitably fast manner by having a knife thrown at him.

Having said the above, that knife is a neat toy.

"if" i was going to throw a knife. a shuriken ( chinese or ninja star) woulf do far more damage then the ballistic knife.

and i can throw a stack of ten pretty bleeding fast.

with the ballistic knife, you got one shot.

I dont know where you would find them online. But at my carnival, they have knives that simulate stabbing somone because the knife has a spring and when you put pressure into the knife, it went into the handle. But if you tinkered with it, you could get it to shoot the blade.

I'd be more than happy to take a hit from that. :P
But if I remember right (looked it up on wiki never played that FF) it doesn't shoot it just uses the vibration of the blank cartridge from the revolver to vibrate the blade and make a much harsher wound. I couldn't see that working in airsoft, but DAMN would it be cooler than just a normal knife tap.

Instead of shooting the knife body you could make it shoot bbs. maybe a pressure chamber in the thick grip of a bayonet a tube holding bbs going up to the tip (a little bump inside the very top of the tube) to stop the bbs from falling out) and the valve where the blade meets the grip.
essentially a mini pneumatic potato cannon.
