New rig but with a problem

Postby Tankwitch » Thu Jun 21, 2012 12:03 pm

Hello AP. I purchased a chest rig a little while ago and it's all set up ready to go. But looking over it I realized that i have no way to carry water. So I did some goggling and didn't find anything useful. I did find some canteen pouches but they where not what I could use.
So my question for you is how are you carrying water around with a chest rig?
I would prefer to carry a canteen or two on my tactical belt but I haven't found anything that seems useable.
Edit: Here is a link to the chest rig I'm using right now. http://www.airsoftextreme.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=254_264&products_id=5310
I'm a major chairsofter, sorry about that.

Joey 1 litre camelbacks, or put a water bottle in a mag pouch.

Or just wear a camelbak on top of your chest rig.

I put a pouch on the strap that goes around your stomach. Seems like the easiest and cheapest way to do it.

Wow that was FAST. The panel is full can't put anything more on it. A camelbak over the chest rig seems awkward. Do you have personal experience running a similar loadout?

Camelbaks come in a variety of configurations, do some checking to see what suits you. Camelbak is a trade name, look under various trade names, condor, blackhawk etc. Once you use this system you will never carry a canteen again. I did not like camelbaks until I tried one, much less awkward than other methods of carrying water. Fill it with ice and you have AC and ice water., a bonus.

This seems like a good choice. Anyone got any suggestions?

Camelbaks also pop. I Just had mine pop, and when youre entire amount of water is in one bag that can break, you are running a risk.

But failures can happen with any equipment. How long did it take for your bladder to fail?

I have owned multiple camel bacs and have never had one fail. These devices have in fact saved multiple persons from injury when they have landed on them. The bladder ruptures absorbing the force of the impact, preventing injury. This is particularly prevalent in mtn biking. I have two of the Condors, they are fine.

I have that very same piece of equipment. They're available for $20 or $25 at Andy and Bax. They're great. Go for it.

I don't run that specific rig, but I run the seven pocket rig by condor. It has the same cross strap design or whatever that goes on on the back of the rig. Since it doesn't have the fancy MOLLE shits that everybody raves about, I bought a separate bladder to use.
Essentially, it turns out like this:

Image

I'm the short one.

It kind of sags on me because I'm not fat.

LIKE SO:Image
More trips to AONW and Sonic afterwards are mandatory.

Basically, I just do some fancy shit. Not really.

Here's my back without the bladder:
Image
I'm really standing on the wall, guys. Don't worry.

Here's the bladder, straps labled to help with the following steps I take.
Image

And here are the various steps I take putting it on, and hopefully having it be secure:
1) Take straps labeled 1 & 2, and bring them under the back straps.
Image

2) In between 1 & 2, there's another two straps that join together, of course, clip them the way they're supposed to be done and tuck them under the rig.
Image

3) Straps labeled 3 & 4 are to be brought up, under the rig and if necessary, tightened to be more secure. Of course, they tend to get loose after a while so they're always going to be tightened.
Image

5) And that's how I roll, bitches. Noticed how I skipped 4?
Image

Of course, it looks super baggy and swagalicious on me because I'm being lazy and not preparing for a game or anything. I'd attempt to make all necessary adjustments beforehand to make sure it stays tight. Of course, you can also tie knots on areas where the several clips are after adjusting to avoid their loosening, but I'm just lazy.

Edit: Also, since it has that fancy molle-shit strap stuff all the milsim kids and shit want, it can be weaved onto a plate carrier, for when one purchases one and rage-leaves the world of chest rigs. This is Android's JPC, for example:

It looks like you have two seperate straps both with clips on them. You then tuck them under your rig and connect them. Is this correct?

Give me back those SERPA belt loops, scrub.
Also, that's my JPC & First Spear Pads. Keep your grubby hands off them.
