Gear sizing question

Postby DutchElvis » Sat Nov 19, 2011 5:42 pm

I'm looking for recommendations regarding MOLLE chest rigs or plate carriers. Now, I'm a smaller framed dude (5'8", 130 pounds), so I have had some issues finding gear that will fit correctly. I currently use this
Condor rig:

However, even when I adjust it all they way down, it is still way to large for me, and is uncomfortable to wear over the course of a game.
Any suggestions for new kit would be welcome.

If nobody has mentioned it before, you could look into wearing a soft armor carrier underneath just about anything. Often the bulk of it will fill out the space between your body and the rig, making it more comfortable for you to wear, and a more stable platform to work with.

Also, if you find yourself interested in a plate carrier; adding a set of fake plates will also improve the fit.

I'm the same size as you pretty much and I use a size S/M MBAV (eagle plate carrier) and it fits fine. The Marine SPC in size small fits even better.

I run a BLACKHAWK! CRCH and am 5'3" 110lbs... Asian- It fits me well and could adjust to up to medium sized easily.

The Blackhawk Commando Recon chest harness looks similar to the RRV. Would an RRV fit okay, if I put plates in it?

An RRV with a front plate in it is the most uncomfortable thing in the world. RRVs adjust quite a lot, but they wrap pretty far around your torso. I have one (6'2" 185lb) and I have to have the back strap tightened down a fair amount. An Eagle Plate Carrier is a good choice as well as Nasty mentioned.

There's also

Which I have and freaking LOVE. They'll be doing a black friday sale on it as well so you can pick one up for super cheap.
