I am damning myself for being new right now, I read all the stickies and got all gung-ho. I went out and bought a tactical vest today... just so happens to be a condor. Now i read all this stuff about how its gonna fall apart and it kinda makes me want to cry (haha). is there any particular examples of what is going to happen to this vest so i can prevent or prepare?

Thanks home-puppies.

When it comes to tac vests you don't have much to worry about. I've used used a tac vest since 2008 then gave it to a friend and he uses it without any problems.

Here is what I have found....Now matter what, you'll end up wanting something different down the road, so start with this one anyways. This isn't because the Condor vest is bad at all, but more that you might find that you want a different style vest like a chest rig or something. Run with that for now, it will work fine for you. Then, once you are used to it, try something new if you want.

I've had a Condor vest for years. It hasn't ripped or torn at all.

I had one contracting in Iraq and It held up just fine till the end. The stitching is the same as DBT. A common problem is that some of the mollie loops may not be exactly uniform and they are not the most comfortable vests in the world but you do get what you pay for.

Good day!

Yeah, Condor's not so bad. People have used it overseas without much issue. You can definitely tell it's not up to the level of Tactical Tailor or even Blackhawk, but it's enough to get your shoot on, and won't really bust until you start fighting in brambles for a year straight.

Welcome to AP.
I have 2 condor rigs, and wear up to 30-40 pounds on them. Never had a problem with any stitching or general wear and tear.

Condor is not the best out there, but it works. I have four Condor vests of varying configuration, and they are all fine. I have never had a problem with any of the vests. Pouches, stitching on the moly straps is usually what I have had troubles with...but only a couple of failures in the roughly 3 years I have been playing.

Condor stuff is good.

Thank you, fellas. for a moment i thought i had bought something that was going to self destruct in a seriously short amount of time. News like that sort of makes a guy wanna throw heavy objects (or sit in a corner and cry)

This. I've done well at games running everything from a full MultiCam setup with all the doo-dads and a railed gun to wearing a suit with seven pistols (wielded two at a time, of course). Think of your gear as amplifying your play - if you're a good player, having nice gear can amplify your speed and ability to operate; if you're a bad player, having nice gear can weigh you down and make you unnecessarily bulky. You'll do fine with a Condor.

1. Run it until it falls apart.
2. Then look at what part(s) failed.
3. Keep those in mind when you pick up your next one.

Mainly, it comes down to what you expect it to do. If you expect to be hauled around by the drag handle, Condor may not be your best choice. If you are just going to be looking the part once a month, Condor will probably do just fine.

I strongly advise that you keep track of what you like / dislike about your equipment, and what you carry and use versus carry and never use versus don't carry but would really like to use. These are the things that will help you figure out what gear you actually want / need to buy.

Gear gets expensive depending on what you expect it to do. I have a full 12'x6' slat wall and 4 shelving units mostly full of guns and gear that I have used, have tried and didn't really like, or haven't gotten around to trying out yet. And still, most of the time, I end up grabbing a lightweight chest rig with a couple of mag pouches and rolling with that.

It's big kids with bb guns. You can do okay with cheap gear for recreational play for quite a while. Better gear either holds up to more abuse, lets you do things faster, or adds to the "Ooh! Shiny!" factor.

Boots, gloves, and eyepro are the big three to spend serious money on. The rest is a matter of what you can afford, and what you will realistically use.

(Just a thought.)

Buy an inexspensive pair of clear plastic eye-pro the first go around, if the lenses fog, then just go mesh... With all the rumors out there, I can tell you that they are BS. Go to AONW and find any mesh eye pro there, the stuff is quality and will never break/bend, etc. Although your eyesight is slightly impaired while you wear mesh it is worth it to never worry about fogging.

(Actual info.)

Most of the time gear, camo, etc. is all based on looks. Just buy the stuff you think looks cool, and come out to a game! (Just DON'T buy black tactical gear... Or ACU.)

Actually... Most of the time gear, camo, etc. isn't all based on looks. I have lots of different camo and vests. They all serve a purpose. RRV's and chestrigs are good for when you want to carry a light load. Plate carriers for when you want to carry more. Marpat is probably the most effective camo for the Pac Northwest but there's times of the year and certain fields, where Cadpat, M84, Multicam and Flektarn are great camo's. (others will have their own favorite camouflage patterns)

Don't buy into the myth that airsoft is just a fashoin show.
