Favorite Knife?

Postby Bond » Thu Jun 17, 2010 1:09 pm

What's your favorite knife you've owned and why?

Mine is the SOG Trident Tanto, because its a basic, reliable, and great-looking knife.

And... ONE MORE YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL.

I have a couple actually.

Outdoors/hunting: Joker slipjoint. My brother got it for me while he was in spain. Very plain, not very tactical, but it's a beautiful knife.

Airsoft/whatever: XPG cabela's special. Strong blade, satin green finish on the grip, and VERY light. The handle is made of aluminum, with holes cut for more traction, and cuts out a LOT of the weight.

Last resort/pleasedon'tmakemeusethis: Some chinese "Tomahawk" brand knife. Got it at a gun show for $5 because it was missing a thumb stud on one side of the blade. Looks a little hokey, and the faux-ivory grips look like crap, but the blade is surprisingly sturdy.

Bug-out-bag knife: Remington sportsman folder. It's nice and thick, with a good solid lock when the blade is out. It's got a stupid hunting-camo finish on the handle, but I'm gonna sand some of it off and go nuts with the rustoleum.
"Why do you need a GUN?!"
"To poke holes in things too far away to get with the stick."

My knife of choice is my Benchmade H&K 14750 Pardue Auto.

Best knife I've ever owned. I've had quite a few over the years, and I have to say I enjoy this one the most. I've used it to cut quite a few things I didn't think I'd need to cut. Including a soda can.

This question is like asking which rifle is your favorite or what camo works the best. My favorite knife is the one best suited for what I'm using a knife for.

Probably the two that see the most miles, though, are my Leatherman and my Randall. Most often used, though, is probably my Gerber filet knife. Lots of dinners have been created with that knife. Of course, I suppose if you count deer, the Randall has made a few dinners, too.

i like you too valentine!

i am making a knife.

i have owned many knives in my lifetime, i have a knife in my hand daily as a profession. i am responsible for making things look pretty after i cut them with really sharp knives, the only other profession i know that does this is a plastic surgeon.

i have owned knives that were over priced pieces of shit, and others that were budget workhorses.

i think when you make something, you ill appreciate it more weather its metal work, woodwork or flint knapping.
I am not half as good as I want to be, but I am twice as good as you think I am.

I've got an old Gerber Ranger lockblade that I picked up while I was in the Navy. I love it. Very light, sharpens easily, fits very well in the hand. I carry it pretty much everywhere.

That being said, I'm planning on giving it to my wife after I buy my next lockblade, which at this time will probably be the Blackhawk CQD with the seatbelt cutter.

My dog wouldn't know what to do with a duck if she caught it, but she's cute. And hates Mexicans. +1!
