Sordin PTT for two prong ICOM radio

Postby Ash » Thu Jul 14, 2011 11:53 am

I was justing wondering if there was a store or person that made these that you all know of. I found one on Ebay, but would like to have one with a longer cord from the PTT to the radio.

Thanks.

And TCI's will run you well over $100. The sordin down lead cord is almost too long. I can place my PTT on the upper part of my body and reach to anywhere on the first half of the cummerbund. And if you where to mount it lower you could easily reach the back part of your PC. And do you have the iCom PTT? If not I can let you try one next time I see you.

How long a lead are you after? The MSA Sordin P/N is a 14" lead.

Not super long just a little bit longer then the one they sell on Ebay. Mossy do you have a spare ICOM PTT you can sell me or know where I can pick one up for cheaper then Ebay?

Are you able to get these at your store?

I'd be curious to know your P/N, Mossy, as the only part I can find has a 14" lead.

Ash, another solution migbt be to build an extension cable. Sure, it's another link in the chain, but you can go as short or as long as you'd like. I'm not aware of any COTS item like this though.

I was just curious if somehow a longer version existed, since you made a comment about it being "too long". I'm in the same camp as Ash, as I wish the lead was about 3 inches longer.

Ash, The cheapest I've found the Sordin PTT is $100, shipped, and that was an eBay item. Probably the same one you found, but who knows.

Well my backband Sordins (Dual-Comm) have 12inch down-leads. Paired with the PTT that's a good 26 inches. It's normally too way too long for my needs. Also I have and issued and a non issued ptt (Ebay one) They are the same length.

I think Ash's issue is that he wants more separation between the radio and the PTT, not the total distance from radio to headset.

I think MSA/Nexus makes a coiled one but it will run you at least $200. Danneskjold might know and or be able to make one for you.
