Propper ACU Style Pants Sizing

Postby Chachi » Mon Jan 04, 2010 12:05 pm

Just a question to the folks that have some Propper ACU style trousers regarding sizing. Like most pants that I buy, I am right in the middle of a size and I need to get some ordered ASAP for Conflict Europe. I just need feedback on how the Propper pants fit. Here is my dilemma:

I typically wear a 37-38 (waist) pant size which gives me a little bit of room. The Propper sizing goes like this:

Large Regular: 35â€

From Corvalis that might be too much to drive.
I wear propper bdus and I am a larger man than yourself chachi. I normally wear a size 40 or 42 depending on what brand of clothing. My size is XL and I feel that they fit well and are comfortable. I wear them over my gut not underneath it. I can almost close the button on a Large so in my opinion you should do fine with Large. You don't want them to be too loose.

Go with the XL, buying BDU's with some room is a good idea. At least in my experience.

Chachi,

I just ordered Propper ACU cut in Large. I have a 37.5" waist. They come in on Wednesday and I'll let you know how they fit after I've had a chance to pick them up.

Propper ACU cut allways seemed a bit larger then regular BDU sizing.

Thanks guys for all your input. I think I am going to make a run to Salem this weekend to Camo & Gear. Their website says they have some in stock, but I emailed to ask them for sure. I'll just go try some on and figure what works best. I was going to pick some up in Albany (10 miles from me) but the guy told me a month ago that they were on order, and today he told me they are a "few weeks away". Sorry, 2 1/2 months to get them in stock is a bit much. Thanks again all!

Chachi, it's better to go with the size bigger, and get a good duty or riggers belt. Many people on my team have ripped the crotch in their pants, and I feel that the one size bigger helps alleviate this issue. Plus, like many have said, they are more comfortable, and allow more layering here in the PacNW.

Just an update, Camo & Gear in Salem has a pair of XL-R Temperate MARPAT pants in stock, and is going to hold them for me until this weekend, when I can go up there and try them on.

I figure the XL will probably be the best, allowing for extra room in case I get fat, or need to wear something underneath. Speaking of, and not trying to sound....gay-ish, do you guys wear a pair of shorts or anything under the pants? I know, totally fruity question, but I have never worn any type of mil-spec pants for combat or airsoft. I am just curious what the norm is I guess. Please don't answer that you just roll "commando" or "duh, I wear underwear". I can figure that part out on my own!

This. Nothing I hate more than wearing a pair that fits, then crouching or straddling over a log and having the crotch tear out. Buying just a little larger is the best way to avoid the issue.

Sounds good, just make sure they're not Tru-Spec brand.

I have heard that about Tru-Spec. What is it about them that makes them bad? Just curious I guess.

They're stiff, uncomfortable and fade really fast.
