Pantac RRV and MAP

I have just picked up the Pantac MAP to go with my Pantac RRV, but it didn't come with instructions on how to attach the two together. For the life of me I can't find any instructions online. I have cobbled it together, but I was just wanting to see if I did it right. Does anyone know where there are instructions on how these pieces go together? My google-fo is failing me.

Does your MAP have straps that come off of the to and bottom of it like a back pack?

Or does it have strips of MOLLE on it?

Had the same issue, never really found them, just worked off of a couple pictures of them put together without a back plate. Even with the backplate it's still not real stable, they slip out a lot. Basically the large elastic bands on the shoulders of the RRV are supposed to hold the upper straps of the MAP, and then you use an extra buckle + piece of webbing to thread it on. (I have mine threaded through the rings that hold the bib in place.)

Icebullet, it is the RRV compatible MAP so no MOLLE on the "back" of the pack.
That is basically what I did as well, Nodachi. Just wanted to see if there was something I was missing.

There should be a strip of 2" webbing along the back of the MAP. Run the RRV back straps through them, then wrap the webbing along the bottom.

That's how you do it with a back panel, I'm not a 100% on how it's done with a SPINE pack.

Yeah, the elastic bands on the RRV's shoulder straps are where the backpack's straps are supposed to be threaded through. The RRV's straps are also supposed to be threaded through the back panel part of the backpack.

I'll see if I can do a quick video of setting one up when I get home tonight.

The RRV shoulder straps should go into the 2" webbing that's along the top of the MAP. The 1" webbing that's at the end of the shoulder straps should be routed through the MOLLE channels on the bottom of the pack, and secured in some fashion. You can remove the buckles, or use them to help keep the straps in place.

So that means on my shoulder parts I need to bring the MAP straps down further and use the buckles I took off to secure it all? basically stringing the map in both sets of elastic on the RRV shoulder straps?
That should give me room to 'weave' the back. Does that sound right? and thank you for the help.

Straps that I removed

Those straps are important in mounting the backpack's straps to the RRV. I have them buckled to the RRV then threaded the backpack's straps through the stretch loops before clipping on the ITW fastex buckles.

Here's how I have mine set up.

Here's the straps tightened down as much as possible.


I also have the other set of those straps attaching the backpack to the smaller side fastex buckles on the RRV.


Note that both kidney/waist straps still attached. You could attach the backpack directly to the RRV on the lower sides but I noticed that I can't cinch it down as much as I'd like. Keeping the original straps means I can cinch down the RRV and use the other strap to go around my belly, like so:

You should be able to thread the RRV's shoulder straps through the large stretch loops with a bit of elbow grease. Should look like this:

When I used the back panel of my MBAV with my RRV, I only had the side buckles attached and it was great. Only problem with the back plate over the SPINE/MAP back is you either have to be fat or wear soft armor under it for it to fit correctly.

Yeah, the RRV is definitely sort of hard to get it to ride well unless you're pretty barrel chested... Otherwise it's great! The backplate is definitely a better solution than trying to put the MAP on by itself. I ended up just wearing the MAP over the RRV instead of connecting them after a while. I also have mine threaded a little differently to put a little less stress on that one piece of 1" webbing at the top. I'll try to get pictures later.
