Crye GunClip

Postby Juicemachine » Sat Apr 23, 2011 7:05 pm

I saw this on OPT a while back, thought it looked kinda cool. With the recent post about new CRYE stuff (Airflex kneepads for $30!), I got reminded of it. Just wanted to start a discussion about this new holster. It seems like an okay idea, as it's low-profile, and allows for pretty much whatever accessories you want. The only problem I can see with it is that the little tab you hit to release the gun could get hit be a branch or something, making your sidearm fall out.

Thoughts?

Looks good. I think I'll wait until the one for the M92 comes out and I'll get one for my M9.

UNLESS (don't mean to hijack) anybody has seen a SERPA for an M29A1. Only one I've seen is the level 3 for $150.

Ooh, I just watched a video. the gun apparently is retained by more than the little snap thing as well, meaning if it gets accidentally engaged, the gun won't just fly out. I might pick one of these up, especially if Andrew doesn't find my SERPA.

Switchback,
Any holster made for the beretta vertec should fit an M9A1.

Meh.
Seems clunky for a clean draw, looked really awkward

I fail to see how this product is something worth getting vs. a serpa or safariland. The draw seems clumsy the "reholster" slightly less clumsy. It seems like Crye's attempt to get some of that disposable "cool gun gear" money.

It's designed to aid in drawing a sidearm while wearing armor, having a suppressor mounted, or while sitting in a vehicle.

I don't carry a sidearm purely because it's incredibly difficult to make a clean draw while I'm wearing a plate carrier.

Have you seen this?

It seems to address the problems you speak of. I do not have it, nor have I used it, but it sounds like it might work.

this looks good only for a molle chest mount or a vehicle mount......anything else and this is a waste of kydex and plastic, and everyones time who looked at this thread.
I am not half as good as I want to be, but I am twice as good as you think I am.

Once they start coming out with more of them including ones for the 1911 and USP, I'll consider it.

Looks like a cross between a Safariland retention holster and a Yaqui slide holster. Pretty good for concealment. I like more protection for the pistol. I lke it though, even with the retention clip on the trigger guard , I would be a bit concerned about loosing the pistol in the brush.
