what is a decent M4 midcap mag?

Postby Payback » Thu Mar 03, 2011 8:55 pm

I just purchased my first AEG yesterday, came with one high cap mag. But as i am new to airsoft i'm looking at getting set up for it. I want to have at least 6 more mags.

I'm looking for budget friendly M4 style mags that will fit into a MK16 scar, and be mid-cap over 100rnds each less than 200rnds, and would like to get them in a pack for a better deal.

I've seen several online at some stores that sell 10 for around $80, but when reading the reviews i'm not sure if i can trust that they are real reviews and some are mixed low and high reviews.

So what i'm looking for is a budget friendly (less than $100 for 10) pack of mid cap mags to start myself off with. They don't have to last forever, but i don't want ones that will break in the first game either. I don't care if they are plastic or metal at this point either.

Any help to point me in the right direction would be great, Thanks :)

The mags that Riddick sells. They're full metal midcaps, and feed flawlessly. At events, he sells them 5 for $45.

I'm looking at packages like this one.

I would probably buy from Riddick, but i haven't gone to any events, and not sure when i will be. I would like to do a few small games around the 20 acres i have to use before i join with more "serious" airsofters :)

I use a set of these: http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=60_112_276&products_id=6496

But I know that these are basically as good as you can get in terms of realism, quality, and consistency: http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=60_112_276&products_id=3278 I have one of them to complete my set of 11, and it's pretty sweet.

ya what shifty said or go the higher quality and get a 10 pack of g&p m4 mids
or what i run which is ca mid caps.
for the g&p ive had 4 that have been abused for about a year now and they work fine still. my ca mids have gone threw so much like dirt, mud, water, even flubber; and they work flawless. just add a little silicon here and there.
the ca is 6 for 90 off aonw
and the g&p is 10 for 89 off ehobby.

I have MAG 190 rnd midcap mags, and Real Sword Type 97 midcaps. They both fit and feed in almost all M4s (although the Type 97 mags are a tight fit w/ KWA).
The MAG ones are a great deal, but be cautious because if you have a two-piece hopup you cannot load them all the way before spring tension causes feeding problems. The Real Sword mags are stinking AWESOME quality, and you can find them for $13.50 here. I'm not kidding about the finish on those, it's like real steel (ignore the pic it's bad).

A side note~
You mentioned about playing before you join more serious games. While that's a great idea and awesome, go have the most fun you can! I know tons of people (myself included) that were initially intimidated by events. Theyre no biggy. There's enough silly people that you're on a level field.

So true. Start with a low-key skirmish or two, then try out an OP.

ANYWAYS, I have used a few of Riddick's M4 magazines, and they are as perfect as they get with a quality second to no AEG magazine.

G&P and S arms are my favorite. S arms are a bit more innovative though, and they hold more.

WWW.airsoftammosupply.com. those mags are perfect for a beginner. If you go with the mag brand, be sure and tape it with electrical tape just below the mag-well to prevent them from splitting on you when you fill them too full

Thanks for all the help. I'll definitely check all the suggestions out.

My first few games are going to be on a friends 20 acres he has groomed with trails and such. I have a cousin who is an experienced airsoft player who has helped me with some of the rules and such.

Mainly its a bunch of us middle aged dads who wanted something to do that we can mix beer/shooting/and acting younger without our wives whining that we are at a bar or something :)

I work in Scappoose and i will eventually get to that field to join in on some fun. Just i don't think i'll be the type to go for the full exact combat deals i see listed for events. I just mainly want to go out and shoot some fools, lol.

Goin' full combat and shooting fools is the best though! Once you get into airsoft more, you'll be ready to have some well organized, super-milsim fun!

WWW.playthefarm.com. Were located in scappose and we generally run light hearted a$$ kicking skirmishes. Perfect for someone to learn on. You won't gain anything shooting your buddies in his back yard. The more you play, the better you will be. Plain and simple.
