got this m9 in the mail. I was told it was KWA but after further inspection I have determined it may not be a KWA. It has no trades. And that alone has me skeptical. Was their a time when KWA did not make m9's with trademarks?

Yes, there was a time that they were made w/out trades...I would check the inside of the slide, and see what it looks like. That usually ruled out the real deal from the fakes on the old KWA Glocks. Not sure about the M9 though...

kwa m9 ptp ns1 I believe. My NS2 has trades and a PLASTIC outer barrel. Metal slide. However, I have read and heard PTP NS1s use a metal outer and plastic, trademark-less slide.

After comparing my KWA M9 PTP MS2 to your pictures i found only one difference besides mine having an orange tip. The screws on the handle are different then mine. My NS2 has a metal slide and a plastic outer barrel. But apparently a plastic outer barrel is better

The plastic (polymer) outer barrel is "better" because there is less metal-on-metal contact, therefore there is less friction.

The first version of the M9 PTP IS NS2 and did not have any trades, there was never an Ns1 M9 ptp only the original m9.
I have the version before the trades and it's worked great since I've owned it. They started putting the trades on shortly after and changed the box.
