G&G full metal "Xtreme" 45

Postby mcninja242324 » Thu Jan 27, 2011 8:18 pm

so i was looking at this pistol, and its pretty sweet, but im just making sure, if anyone has this pistol id appreciate some info, but its about 100 bucks, so for that kind of money i want to see what i can get. i did look at some revolvers but i dunno, for 100 bucks they arent that powerful. but i prefer co2 over gas, mainly cuz ive never used a gas pistol before, but some tips would be nice. also heres the link to the guns page:

I've never heard of a pistol fps limit...

You'll run into events that have specific FPS for pistols. Normally, they don't want pistols to exceed ~400fps. But some events only allow pistols shooting ~330fps. 510fps is ridiculous.

This is under Info, then under Safety Rules...

Standard 6mm BBs Fully/Semi Automatics - 400 fps (1.5j)
CQB/Indoor - All under 330 fps (1j)
Sniper Rifles (Bolt Action ONLY) - 550 FPS (2.8j)
*Limits Measured with .20g BB

I'm pretty sure pistol falls under CQB/Indoor, correct me if I'm wrong...

The way that is worded, I don't see how a pistol would fall under CQB/Indoor. By that logic all submachine guns should be chronoed at 330 fps....

I think pistols should be under 330 so you can use them instead of safety kills and they can go to 400 but if they do they have to be treated like a rifle. But yeah, 510 is not ok.

The first shot is somewhere over 9000, the second shot is in like the 500s, and subsequent shots are usually in the high 300s; in my experience. So if you shoot a round or two after reloading before you go into a game you should be good.

Anyone who brings a CO2 pistol to a PSC game will have it chrono. Any shot above the fps limit will result in the pistol being disqualified. I know other hosts follow the same example.

Just so ya know.

In reading posts about CO2 Pistols and in my own limited experience, pistols are (and have been) used as CQB transition weapons and close-range backups for humane kills. I don't think that this is a good purchase because A), it is insanely high powered. If you count it as an indoor weapon (wich it kind of is designed to be) then it should be under 330fps. B) you cannot count on the consistency of the velocity dropping off; if somehow it spiked and you shot through someone, that'd suck.

Buy it to shoot cans it the backyard. Don't buy it if you intend on using it at any AP game. Its also not really a GBB since the slide only goes back a couple inches.

If your looking for a good gas pistol for around $100 that won't suck and you can use at games, look at the KJW M9. Some tanks wish they were built as well as those guns.

I gaurauntee you that they measured that FPS with .12g bbs.

ASMG is a noob trap, with their advertisement, and they like to display VERY high FPSes so that new players, who think FPS = quality, will buy their products.

Do what Jewish Ninja said, honestly. WEs will break eventually, and it's a phony pony to fix em.

Every gun will break eventually under use. And all GBBs are a phony pony to fix if you don't know what your doing.
