Looking to buy a revolver

Postby Sixxgun » Sun Jan 16, 2011 5:41 pm

I've been looking around for a decent revolver as a back up. I know that Maruzen and Tanakas are great guns (I own a Tanaka which needs a new outer frame) but been looking into a cheaper revolver for now just wondering if HFC or UHC are any good for a spring or nbb revolver? Before u knock me for looking at those two brands that is all I can find in a good price range until I can Order a frame for the Tanaka.

No such thing as a good spring revolver, but an HFC should last for a couple hundred rounds. I, personally, would hold off until you can get a CO2, because the seals on those are usually better.

the springers are unreliable and wobbly to the core, i wouldn't recomend one unless you seriously just want it for the looks(and even that isn't a very good reason, they don't look great) and the hfc/uhc nbbs are pretty low quality, i've seen only one, and it was broken 50 rounds out of the box, but even the externals on that were dissapointing, not in the looks as much as the spingers, but a good accident and you could rip the barrel off the frame. i'd say save for the tanaka frame. if you need something, just get the springer to hold the spot on your gear.

I love my tanaka hi-power. I haven't used their revolvers but I've used a few of their other products and would say they're anything but 'crap', some people just seem to expect their plastic guns to survive things some metal guns wouldn't.

In related news: I would avoid the Win Gun revolvers, they're amusing, but completely useless for actually playing with (at least mine that shoots 530 on average is).

[quote="Nasty"I disagree. I know a couple people that have those cheap $25 spring revolvers, and they're great for what they do.

If you're going to use it a lot, get a gas one. If you're going to use it as a backup/"oh shit" weapon, the cheapo springs ones will work fine.[/quote]

I know where my next $25 is going...

thanks nasty I was looking at using it as a backup for my 1911 or just for the hell of it until I can get parts for the tanaka (which are next to nothing right now)

I bought a $25 spring revolver (UHC or whatever.) and must say... It clocks in at 108fps and the bbs shoot out about 5 feet, from my standpoint I would just save $25 for a pouch or something.

It's fine... Just giving the OP a heads up that he may end up with a lemon, maybe its just the shells. I'll have to try the other I bought sometime.

I've had good experience with spring and cheapo gas revolvers. Obviously you get what you pay for but they certainly will withstand the rigors of a backup. There was a cheap crappy one at strikezone that was given to kendo, not sure if he still has it, but it was used and abused for a while before that.
