i cant decide...

Postby Simmons » Fri Jan 07, 2011 10:33 pm

i cant decide which pistol or smg to get. can anyone please give me recommendations or help? and if someone has any other pistols to recommend id really appreciate it.

the pistols i cant decide on are:

-kwa 1911 MKIV
-kwa m9 ptp
-kwa kmp9
-kwa glock 17
-socom gear 1911 meu

the reason i threw the socom gear in there is because it comes with a landyard, hard case & silencer (id put it on my sr10) all of these extras for only $5 more than the MKIV.

most people will say the kwas, except for the TM-fanatics, who will say the FN. the socom gear is a good deal. go with looks, it's up to you.
forgive my ignorance, it happens to everyone.

I would tend to lead towards one of the KWAs, especially if you are new to gas guns, the TM is a great gun but they tend to be a tad under powered because it is recommended you use duster gas rather than green gas, the socom gear I've had little experience with but heard they can be a bit of a gas hog.

I do however own both of the KWA guns, highly recommend those two, the only difference is the style of gun, do you prefer a 1911 or an M9?
I DID NOT INVENT THE INTERNETS FOR THIS

I personally own and love my KWA M9 (ptp version).

I'd recommended one of KWAs pistols (1911 or M9, thats your call). TMs are nice as well, but the KWAs are a little more noob-friendly. I can't really speak for the Socom gear because I've never owned/used/worked on one, but I have heard MOSTLY good things about them.

Go to your local airsoft store and stack a grip on all of them. If you like one, buy it.

i appreciate the input from you guys. there is no local shop down here thats nearby.. the nearest place is either 2 hours north or 1.5 hours south and the shop up north (AEX) is a lot bigger and nicer apparently.

ill probably end up buying the m9 because its cheaper and would go along with my loadout (multicam) im trying to go for more.

M9 PTP

Pros:
Polymer outer barrel (Less friction.)
ns2
Nice trades (Imo)
Mags are VERY gas effecient
Easily removable orange tip
Painted sights

Cons:
Polymer outer barrel has an ugly orange tip stock.
Removable grips are just meh, nothing special.
Light recoil (Pro and con.)

Just go with the M9 PTP, I own one and I'm very impressed with it quality-wise.

KWA 1911 Mk IV. It's what I have and love!
I do hope that after all this discreditable shuffling we may be taken into action. It has a wonderful way of reconciling a man with himself: and with everybody else, sometimes. - 1st Lt. James Dillon

Gas pistol

Postby phiz » Wed Jan 12, 2011 10:02 am

I have the PTP mark IV in OD

Pros
1. Sexy
2. Amazing accuracy, great hop up. Head shots at 100 feet with a bench rest.
3. Very gas efficient. I'm still on the same can of green gas, maybe 1000 rounds.
4. KWA service is #1 if you ever need it.
5. I'm getting around 330fps

Cons
1. Only loads 12 rounds reliably. With more, the clip gets stuck sometimes and doesn't feed.
2. Mags are $40 each.
3. Like all gas guns, doesn't work very well in the cold. About 2 shots in the snow.
4. Mag release sticks out. You have to use a blackhawk serpa holster or you will lose mags.

Just don't get a WE, their pistols degrade in quality very fast. They are also gas hogs.

if you're looking for a side arm the mp9 wont do you justice. It requires some crazy holster unless you use a sling which then will still get in the way of your main rifle.

The best shooter out of those is the KWA 1911 MKIV. The M9 PTP is probably 2nd in line for the handguns.

The MP9 will outperform either, but is much larger and is really more of a primary than a sidearm. The KWA M17s are no longer available, and the KSC G17s that are just aren't as nice as the new KWA pistols.
