16mm CW thread?

Postby Sahronax » Thu Dec 23, 2010 2:46 pm

I am looking at purchasing a KWA KP45 Tactical, and I noticed that rather than coming with the typical 14mm counter-clockwise threading on the outer barrel, it instead has 16mm clockwise threading. Does anyone think that this would present a problem? I understand that King Arms makes a 16mm CW thread suppressor so if I wanted to add anything I would have at least some options open. However, does anyone know of any 16mm CW to 14mm CCW adaptors that might exist? Or any other options I might have if i want to add anything to this pistol? Any input would be appreciated.

That's the only silencer or part I've ever seen for 16mm clockwise. With the KWA KP45 Tactical and the new KWA MK23 (and probably the KP8 Tactical as well) sporting the 16mm clockwise threads, I'd say it won't be too long before we see more of the mock suppressors for them.

Also, just remembered there's one guy making Carbon Fiber suppressors in the UK that are 16mm clockwise.

That's actually something I hadn't considered, and it might work out for me in that case seeing as how I wasn't planning on getting one immediately anyway. My main concern was finding the least expensive quality one I could, and having just the one option narrows it down a bit too much for me.

Next question: Where might I find a tightbore GBB barrel long enough to fit inside pistol/suppressor combo? I'm sure it depends on which silencer I get, but anybody have any rough guesses as to how long a barrel like that could be?

That would probably fit inside nicely as long as the hop-up is the same.

I don't think that's quite the kind of answer I was looking for, but it's helpful nonetheless, so thank you.
