KJW 1911 MEU

Discussion of GBB (gas blowback) replicas.

KJW 1911 MEU

Postby vibora » Sat Nov 20, 2010 5:16 pm

I'm in the market for a new sidearm and the KJW 1911 MEU caught my eye. It doesn't quite look like every WE 1911 out there, and I've had a fabulous experience with KJW guns (just sold a KJW P226). Something else I find interesting is that it appears to be a copy of the Marui MEU, at least internally. This is a huge plus for me as there are a multitude of aftermarket parts for TM guns.

My only problem is that I thought that the WE 1911s were also TM copies. However, the KJW and the WE are not compatible, as far as I know. Also, does the KJW have any advantages over the WE, or vice versa? For example, I think KJW puts a very good paint on their guns; it almost seems like it is a baked or ceramic finish. WE on the other hand, still has brush lines in the finish. Does anybody own this gun that could help me out?

I have the KJW M1911 tactical and I love it! The recoil spring rod/guide is well secured to the hop up (you will find a dimple/hole at the back of the recoil spring rod which secures to the nub located in front of the hop up dial). It can use regular gas or CO2 magazine. Last chrono was 301 FPS using a regular gas magazine.

WE hi-cap magazine will fit well on my KJW M1911. The recoil spring rod on WE GBB moves freely unlike what I mentioned on the KJW M1911 - which I don't find as a disadvantage over the KJW but find it as a good design.

The butt plate on either magazine is made of plastic but it can absorb most of the impact effectively - it can easily be replaced if it ever breaks. Take care the top portion of the magazine where you load your BBs - it is plastic.

The paint will wear off after extensive use on the KJW M1911 - paint work is not anodized on the metal parts. The outer barrel on the KJW M1911 is made from durable plastic. You can find a metal threaded barrel to swap it if you wish to replace the outer barrel. I would swap mine with a metal threaded barrel but since the part is still in good shape I will keep it as is and I don't have plans using a silencer. Speaking of attachment, the KJW M1911 has a rail to attach laser or flashlight. Lastly, the hand grip is comfortable and doesn't slip.

It is about 30F outside up here in WA State and I went outside to test my KJW M1911 mags (holds about 27 BB double stack) if it works well in the cold weather. I added silicone oil to all moving parts including on the magazine valves. I use propane gas for my mags. So far it fired 10 BBs when the valve at the back of the mag got stuck and spewed all the propane gas. I believe it got stuck and spewed all the gas because of low temperature. The valve at the back of the magazine is cold and has whitish color around it - kinda like freeze effect. I never had this experience since the last time I played with my KJW M1911. So heads up, you might think your gun is broken if this occurs. Proof that GBB may act weird during low temperatures.

Its possible that I have a bad valve. Load some gas on your mags if you plan to store it for a long period. Head down to this thread for more info:

With 1911s you just have to be a man and use real capacity BB loads. That's what I always did with my WE, and I swear it never gave me any trouble.

Yup if the scenario calls for mid capacity only. I would pick the KWA 1911 MKVI as a weapon of choice. Hi-cap mags are still fun to play.

Sidearms are never important enough to need more than midcap at any rate. There is a reason its called a secondary.

NO HI-CAPS ALLOWED!

Ok. Valid point. But it still doesn't mean I can't use hi-cap mag with my pistol.

Please, share your experience with your WE GBB to help Vibora.
