GBB vs. AEG in a CQB setting

Postby pseudoanimosity » Tue Sep 07, 2010 3:13 pm

Which would you prefer, a GBB, or an AEG while playing CQB? Is the trade off in speed and agility worth sacrificing firepower?

(Note, these thoughts are based on an indoor CQC area, not an outdoor CQC area, since temperature and what the ground is made of is different.)
I'd take an AEG mainly because of constancy and cheaper mags. Using a GBB on auto/firing faster will lower your FPS and ROF which can be sucky.Having a GBB weapon is very handy in CQC, but if you drop one of those heavy a$$ mags, you could be out 40+ darus as opposed to 8~ assuming you break your AEG mag. Another downside is carrying a decent load of gas mags will be heavy. Both on your chest/belt/leg/wherever and then that weight will end up in your dump pouch bashing into you as you move.

GBB pistols and the new KWA MP7/9 are great though since their small size will allow you to move faster and into rooms easier.

GBB is so much more satisfying in close quarters.

For short scenario-style play, GBB SMGs are a lot of fun. As an actor in a few CQC events, I liked them more than AEGs because of the novelty of the firing sound. For a skirmish of any kind, I tend to leave my GBB platforms to a pistol, and I use it in place of a safety kill. The time it takes to re-gas and reload is too much of a pain in the a$$ to fiddle with all day long.

Pump action shotguns are the most fun. :D

GBB are insanely fun in short CQC games. However you tend to get out gunned by that one guy with an AEG and a high cap.

Ripping off a burst from my KWC Co2 Uzi is so much more satisfying than a burst from my Galaxy MP5K. Plus, it keeps peoples heads down so much more effectively. Definately a psycological advantage, in my experience.
Well, you can start a new topic and get flamed for not searching, or you can search and get flamed for necro-posting. It's really your choice...

It only takes 1 hit to tag someone out, so springer pistol is the way to go -.^ Too quiet to get a decent location from sound if its in a larger arena, and your close enough that FPS really dosnt make a huge difference one way or another. Otherwise, GBB all the way

Although some people will tell you that overseas they use full length M16s to clear buildings, I've found that I can maneuver better using a sidearm indoors. I'd use my Glock or a gas SMG as my primary in short CQC games, but Ash gets butthurt if I don't follow SOTA doctrine and use my M4. ;)

That'd be so hot.

On topic- GBB's are way more intimidating, but the trade off your taking for something the size of a pistol or slightly bigger in mobility may not make a difference at all. Someone at PTOC and CAGE was using a full sized SAW both times i saw him and that nigga knew how to move.

What I'm trying to say is, as airsofters we get the ability to buy and use something that fits the job in our opinion, everyone trains and fights different ways here, so we use what were comfortable with.
