hfc m190 not firing?

so... i've owned an hfc m190 spec force semi model for a couple of years now. About six months ago i was firing it on the field and the trigger spring broke. So, i ordered the part and waited a few weeks to get it. when it came in i decided to gut the frame and put it in. i was very careful when disassembling it and kept all the parts. with the new trigger spring in place, i reassembled it according to a guide i found and tried it out. Good news was the trigger worked, bad news was it didn't fire. the pin made contact with the gas release button (for lack of a better word) but only a small puff of gas would be released every 4-5 trigger pulls. And it fired a full puff of gas every 15 or so trigger pulls. yet no round would be fired. Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
