Reel steel barrel bushing on airsoft 1911's?

Postby CCCman » Thu Aug 12, 2010 7:37 pm

I have a we 1911 and i heard the barrel bushings are weak and will break under too much stress. Is it possible to put a real 1911 barrel bushing on to a we tech 1911?

yes, but it requires a little bit of modification. the inside of the bushing needs to be drilled or filed out some, there's a lip that catches on the barrel and wont let it pass through. could probably dremel it.

i have three WE1911s and haven't had any of the bushings break yet. when/if they do, the replacements aren't too expensive, so i never bothered replacing mine with a real one. i have heard of it happening on other peoples guns though.

It's easier to get like a Guarder replacement one. Look for TM compatible parts. Real steel parts are, like Beran mentioned, harder to get to work, seeing as the TM compatible parts are designed for your gun (WE = TM copy).

Negative. The TM barrel bushing doesn't work with the WE 1911s. We tried my TM one on Andrew's WE and no worky worky.

I broke 3 barrel bushings between the two WE1911's I had. If your barrel bushing breaks, your spring plug will probably fail too, as they were designed to work in tandem, not by themselves. Yes, real ones take some modification to fit. TM one's DO NOT WORK ON WE GUNS.

yeah, the real barrel bushings are not expensive. if i were you id buy a couple in case you mess one up making it fit.

honestly though, just wait for yours to break and replace it then. that's assuming it even ever breaks.

My main issue is that I'm terrible with a dremel, so I'd need someone to do that for me if it ever breaks :P
