Propane adapters/Evike = bad customer service

Discussion of GBB (gas blowback) replicas.

Propane adapters/Evike = bad customer service

Postby Partiro » Sun May 23, 2010 8:59 pm

You guys notice they pretty damn overpriced and I am pretty sure there are ways to make your own homemade adapter but nonetheless I just want to ask why do you need a silicone oil reservoir for your propane adapter? It was just out of curiosity. Green gas = propane + silicone oil but I want to know the logistics behind this.

Oh I also want to know plastic vs metal propane adapters. I heard that metal ones can damage your magazines overtime but is this true?

The silicone helps to lube both the gun and the o-rings from the inside out. The reservoir simply eliminates the need to be filling the magazine with both gas and silicone at the same time to get the desired mixture.

It is common knowledge.

I've heard good things and bad things about both. Metal and plastic. The plastic ones can bend if dropped or banged on something (airsoft innovation propane adaptors have red caps for them and replacement tips) The metal ones would bend if banged up. You can't really replace a small tube of metal very easily. The metal ones are a bit more resistant to getting bent or banged up. But I could see them damaging your fill valves. If your charging your magazines and somebody hits it by accident or something happens to the propane tank (getting moved or something like that) It could damage both the nozzle and the fill valve. I have a plastic one. They are fairly nice and I have had no problems at all. The metal ones I have heard they have problems. But its up to the buyer. Do you want a plastic one that can bend and possibly brake easier but not be able to harm your fill valves or do you want a metal one where it can hurt the fill valves but not bend and break as easily.

The biggest difference I have noticed, is the actually on the mag, and not the adapter. The metal adapters work best on mags that have the rubber seal in the fill valve chamber, and for the mags that are missing the seal, the plastic adapters work better.

I think my Kp45 match mag has a rubber seal its that black thing right? If so I might make a switch to using metal propane adapters..

Look at the fill valve. If there is a black o-ring in there, then you have a rubber seal in it.

Its a black O ring. If KWA did not put a seal on their mags and charge 40+ dollars for each one. I would be a sad customer..

True, I would be surprised if you could make a propane adapter for less than $20 in materials and time.

I would recommend the Airsoft Innovations. Even though it's plastic/nylon, it's the best one, in my opinion. MadBull would be second, but stay away from the Sapien Arms if you can.

I ended up grabbing a madbull off evike because they were the only place that had the kp45 tomb raider mags still in stock. My first experience with Evike and I say they SUCK! I order it Sunday night and its tuesday and they still haven't shipped it or gave me tracking info. Order says it still processing to the shipping center... I order a lot of things online and all of them have shipped by the next day I ordered. I just hope it comes in by friday because I will be out for the weekend.

That really weird for evike too do that, I buy from them all the time. Maybe you got unlucky. They ship next day, I expect things from them in 3 days. There a good company. I use the airsoft innovations propane adaptor. It's around 20 bucks, but it comes with a replacement tip, manual, silicone stuff for the propane, and of course the adaptor. Mines over 2 months old. Works great.

Lets break this down:

You bought on Sunday- No one is in the office on Sundays, therefore no one will even see your order till Monday. It takes about 15 minutes to process an order. Lets say they got 100 orders on Sunday (this is a random number I'm pulling out of my a$$ based on working in an ordering processing role at a computer company). That's 150 minutes to process all the orders just from Sunday.

Assume that they come in to work at 8am. They do like everyone else does, turn on the computer, grab some coffee, talk about their weekend with their coworker, adjust their chair to a comfortable position, check their emails (and reply to any), THEN they get to the orders. Figure an hour for all the preliminary stuff.

9am they start working on orders.

9:20, they get a call inquiring about the quality of the wiring in a KWA M4. This call takes 10 minutes due to unforeseen issues. 9:30 they get back to orders.

10am they take a 15 minute break.

10:15 they are back at their desk.

12pm, then break for lunch. Lunch is 30 minutes, but they probably don't start on real work till 12:50 or 1ish depending on how big lunch was.

They work on more orders till 1:45 when their boss walks in and starts chatting about the weather/company/local sports team. Boss doesn't leave till 2, when the employee takes their 2nd break (of course anyone who works in any cubicle type office knows you take many many more breaks than the 2 you are supposed to.

2:15 back at work on orders.

3:30 phone call regarding what type of battery fits in the hand guard of a TM Mp5Sd6. Call takes 12 minutes due to miscommunication as to what type of mp5 it is.

3:42 person realizes it's almost 4 and starts closing down their stuff to leave for the day.

3:55 Close enough to 4, person leaves.

That's only enough time to process 18 orders. This is why "processing" time is quoted in 1-3 days. Placing an order on a weekend means that you can pretty much guarantee that 3 day processing time. If you really want them to process it ASAP, you need to call them and pester them about getting it shipped out (if it's in stock, which Evike doesn't like to update on their website). Yes, you want it now, but you aren't going to get it now. You have to wait. If you really wanted it now, you should have gone to AONW and purchased one on site.
