Gas pistol suggestions

Postby Partiro » Tue May 18, 2010 4:51 pm

I want to grab myself a pistol/pistols kinda want to go for that dual wield action since mags are expensive already, why not by an extra pistol with a mag? That being said, I am straying towards going for just a 1911 since it is very common and probably very easy to get parts. What brand do you recommend? My budget falls around the $100 mark and don't feel like spending anything higher. WE makes very tempting stuff but I want to hear some opinions so please any recommendations would be great.

I love my WE 5.1 Hi-capa. It isn't a true 1911 since it is a double stack, but it is a 1911 base... If you don't mind the wide(er) frame from the double stack mag, and you don't mind the more modern look, you should take a look into it. Mine is still running on the single mag it came with, and the mag hasn't gone leaky on me yet.

I can vouch for the KJW 1911 (high cappa). Mine has served me well and is all but bulletproof (it has been dropped on concrete many a time). Still works great and has the best kick of any airsoft GBB I've shot. Gas consumption is not an issue for me but CA is a little warmer than Oregon.

My friend’s WE regular 1911 leaked like a phony pony and had horrid gas consumption, but it could have been a lemon.

I have a SOCOM Gear MEU(SOC) (based off the WE 1911 design) and I love it. Unfortunately I've had 3 mags go bad because a single-stack mag is thin, the metal it's made of warps easily if you're rough with it or expose it to extreme temperature changes.

I have a WE 1911 MEU and I love it. Have had no problems with it. Good range and accuracy, and it looks sick :)

Ima let you finish, but WE makes the best 1911's of all time.

Seriously though, I love my WE 1911 tactical. I usually get about 25 shots on 2, 5 second fills of green gas. I don't know if that's high or not, but it works for me.

I know a lot of pistols mags fail but I was wondering if you would recommend getting a double stack type mag pistol instead. I don't really feel like spending a lot of money on pistol mags but if there are restrictions in games that don't allow double stacks, it might change my mind...

I have yet to see a game that restricts pistol mags. Mags will last quite a while if they are maintained correctly (lubed and gassed). The thing with pistol mags (and everything else really) is you get what you pay for.

While its out of your budget, the TM MEU/1911 is worth saving up for. Its built amazingly well and the mags are much sturdier than the WE ones.

If you want full metal and cheap go WE. The build is solid and I've never had one fail. (I've owned 4 now, sold three to make bills) Bad news is the mags (as it has already been stated) swell, and fail. Now if your okay with saving up better companies are available such as: KWA, KSC, Western Arms, and TM.

There are no mag restrictions for pistols I've seen unless its a competition like CQC. They set restrictions to 7 rounds in the magazines and 1 in the chamber on any single stack mag as that is realistic. Double stack mags are restricted to the pistol type. Example the TM Mk23 would be restricted to 12 rounds in the magazine and 1 in the chamber since that is what the real-steal could function.

Not without modification. Beran, any luck with your TM 1911 mod project?
