KWA M1911A1 slide isse

Postby Vermilion » Fri Apr 23, 2010 3:35 pm

Some times when I am shooting my 1911 the slide will not slide back forward all the way; it will stop about ¼ inch short, which will cause the gun not to shoot. If you then pull the slide back an inch it will return to normal and will be able to shoot. This problem does not occur after every shot, but it does happen pretty often.
It has been working fine and just started doing this. I don’t know what is wrong with it.

Try stretching the recoil spring out a tad. It might be compressed or slightly weak. Also, I recommend a dry lubricant on friction prone surfaces.

What dry lube do you recommend?

I use dry graphite lube on my pistol, and it racks like sex.

A lot of times, dust will build up in the oil on your gun. If you have gray residue anywhere on the gun, especially in the chamber or on the slide, you need to clean it.

I just re-lubed the gun and stretched out the recoil spring a tad, but it still sticks.
When it does get stuck it feels like something is blocking it from going forward. It seems to only do this when there are bbs in the mag and you are shooting. I dry fired it a few times and there was no problem at all.

Maybe try a different brand of BB's?

Your feed lips might be holding the bb a smidge too tight. I'm not really sure how to tell you to fix this, though.

Turns out the outer barrel is getting pushed down an gettin caught on the slide, which is causing the slide not to go forward all the way.

Any ideas why the outer barrel is doing this?
