Types of Gas

Postby Bic 101 » Sun Apr 18, 2010 11:34 pm

I'm sure this has come up before, but I am wondering about the different advantages to the different types of gasses for pistols. I know of three, green, red and propane. And I know that red gas is better than green gas, but why is it better and where does propane fit into this all.

So my question is, is which is the best considering fps and price?

(my pistol is a WE 1911 rated for all three so information that I can get about all three is great)

Cheers

Propane= Green Gas without silicone spray (get a propane adaptor)
Red gas= Impossible to find for a decent price, more powerful that Green
Also, there's HFC134a, which is compressed air, or "duster gas". It is suggestedd for plastic slide guns, as it is very weak and won't/can't cycle the slide all thee way back on some metaal slide guns.

So, in terms of price, what is the difference between green gas and propane? Or is there a difference that is worth it?

I have a WE Full Metal 1911 that says it can take propane but what is the "propane adapter?"

If he did the googling himself, then he'd be asking "hey is this a good one?".

Propane is green gas but you get about 2-3x as much for a third of the price when purchasing the former.

Propane adapters are the things you screw onto the top of a can of propane that allows it to fill the mag - think of the different ends you use on an air pump - you don't use the same piece to fill your basketball/football as you would to fill your bike tire.

The madbull one AONW carries is a good one.
