WE 1911 part compatibility

Postby Beran » Wed Mar 31, 2010 4:20 pm

i know a lot of the TM parts work in the WE 1911s. has anyone ever tried real steel parts? im relatively certain that the hammer wont work, but i know the mainspring housing, grips and some barrel bushings do. im also interested to know if the sear spring, slide stop, thumb safety and grip safety from a real 1911 will fit and function.

i plan to try some of these parts when i get home tonight, but i was wondering if anyone else already has.

The barrel bushing from a Kimber will not work on the WE1911's. They need to be dremeled on the inside of the bushing to fit.

took apart my RIA 1911 and tried various parts.

spring cap works, slide stop works (but looks like it will be brand specific, some will work and some will not), barrel bushing will work with some minor dremeling/filing, sear spring doesn't fit at all ( :( ), thumb safety and grip safety do not fit, mainspring housing does not fit (was a surprise, i had thought they did).
