I'm pretty much going to echo everything that has been posted above: I agree with jew, get a 1911. As he said, if you MUST have one of those two, I would recommend the MAC-11. It is pretty accurate, and it is pretty darn reliable. I have yet to have any sort of malfunction with mine after putting at least 40 magazines worth of ammo through it, that is nearly 2000 rounds. And it is just more fun to shoot in my opinion.
Here are the biggest issues you will run into with a MAC:
The size of it: it is huge by pistol standards (it is pushing the pistol/SMG boundry) and will not fit even some large type holsters.
The rear sight sucks absolute nuts (not that you would be using it): the positioning of it is so low, that when shouldering the MAC, it is hard to get your face down there in the short space between the rear of the gun and the stock in your way.
The stock, while made of metal has some up and down movement/wobble, and the tube frame portion easily slides up your shoulder when using it (again, not that you would be using it).
For outdoors: it's use is best resigned to "oh sh!t" moments where you are out on your primary, and need to unleash a stream of plastic death at the guy that is about to shoot you. For indoors: it has the accuracy, magazine size, rate of fire, and ability to be shouldered that allow it to be used as a primary weapon.
