WE Scar-L vs. MK16

Discussion of GBB (gas blowback) replicas.

WE Scar-L vs. MK16

Postby Low recoil » Wed Sep 07, 2011 10:29 pm

So my question is are they the same gun just new price. I read the spec and it seems like they only made a couple external changes but no mag mechanic changes.

Sorry for the noob question

SCAR L is just another term for MK16. It's not an airsoft thing. It's like the difference between AR15 and M4.... Kind of.

SCAR-L is the same exact thing as a MK16.

I might be wrong, but I think the WE MK16s/SCAR-Ls suffered from some pretty common catastrophic internal failures.

The stock hinge would break if fired consistently in full auto with the stock folded, but a metal part is available for $8. They require a lot of lube, and freeze up if you try to run a magazine through it faster than it wants, pretty standard GBB stuff. The original magazines (sucked, by the way, new ones from AONW are supposedly perfect) need to have the rubber seals soaked in O-Ring conditioner, and plumbers tape on the screws helped my magazine leaks. Even stock, the FPS was under 400, and the magazines held enough gas to lock the bolt after a magazine of rapid (semi) fire.
Fine replica, tough, unique. I'd recommend it any day to someone who wants a different replica while still sticking with a modern weapon.
