Ares vs socom gear M200

Postby Stray » Tue Jan 18, 2011 3:42 pm

Not sure if this yet but I wanted to see what people thought about the new socom gear M200 to the Ares. Here is the specs let's see what you all think.

ARES M200:
Lenghth: 4'5"
weight: 19lbs
Action: bolt
Power source: gas or spring
Mag cap: 23rds (gas) 100rds (spring)
Round: 6mm
Power: 390fps gas 280fps spring
Body: full metal
Hopup: Adjustable
Price:1500+

Socom gear M200:
Length: 4'5"
Weight:20lbs
Body: full metal
Hopup: adjustable
Power source: gas
Action: bolt
Round: 8mm
Mag cap:7. Rounds
Blowback: shell ejection
Power: 330fps
Price:1300

What do you all think? Personally the shell ejection sounds fun to a small dagree. But both seem completely impractical for most games but still would be fun to use or just add to the collection of huge guns most people have but never use except for photo ops lol. What do you think are they worth it? And which is worth the buy more?

if you wanted something cool looking, the socom gear would be cool. if you ever wanted to skirmish one, the ares would be the way to go.
forgive my ignorance, it happens to everyone.

I'm liking the Socom Gear. I think that building a shell bag for that wouldn't require too much effort, and the 8mm would be simply feared at games when a 6mm would be blown around.

Never meant for anyone to buy one of these I just mean it as which just seems better designed. It's like a m82 alot of people own one. But that doesn't mean they would use them ever in games. Just a neat gun design is all. I guess I didn't make tha part clear :( my bad

Hands down the SOCOM Gear model blows away the Ares model. I handled the SOCOM Gear model today and, short of knowing it's airsoft, that beast feels real. The bolt cycle on it is a thing to behold. Yeah, catching shells in a skirmish situation won't be fun, but the rifle itself is a serious piece of work.

I saw both at Shot Show. That 8MM shell ejecting goodness is just too sexy to pass up.
