Penalty/Fine

Postby No-Name » Sat Apr 08, 2006 1:08 pm

Does anyone know what the penalty/fine is for anyone who airsofts on public property without some kind of a permit? And is there a way to get out of it?

WOW, before you get hammer in this topic, because you will. I want to know why you are asking? Did you shoot your gun in a public area? If so where and when.

There are these things called lawyers. They do legal work for people who pay them. One can probably help you out with your legal inquries to a much fuller degree than anyone here can.

Most places like to hit people who missuse replica weapons with the full penalty as if you had used a real-deal firearm. "It's just a toy!" doesn't cut it when your menacing people with an AK47.

It sounds to me like either you've done something stupid and dont' want to own up to it (in which case no one here will help you in the slightest), or your planning to do something stupid - in which case the help you get here will be of the "Don't do that, you stupid shit!" variety.

Also, there are quite a few officers of the law that regularly read these forums.

Come clean, and maybe someone will actually be willing to 'help' you - but probably not, given your record on the forums so far.

Oh, well don't worry about when or where but me and my friends have airsoft wars illegally. We have had a few run-ins with the cops, but they never actually confronted us. This one guy I knew was on an airsoft war and he talked to the cops because they came, and the cops were cool with it, but if I was caught, what would happen. (Please only reply using Washington laws, not Oregon)

actually it totally depends on where you live, some places take airsoft more seriously than other so the fine is allways or most of the time different

I believe Washington is harder on "discharging of a firearm" in a public area.
Your best bet is simply not have to find out the hard way, in other words don't do it!!

But illegally is the only way I can airsoft convienetly. My parents won't let me join a club because they are all far away from where I live. I'll just use the illegal argument for more persuasion. Although my dad said I may be able to join Evergreen Airsoft during the summer, but my brother would have to join because I can't drive alone because I only have a permit, so he would have to drive, but he doesn't want to do it. Don't worry, that was not a run on sentence at all.

You could be shot by the police, that's something that could happen.

When playing in public. You could be charged with several crimes. It depends on who calls you and what they see. Brandishing, menacing, Discharging a firearm in city limits. You could be arrested, fined, have your guns confiscated. In a worst case scenario it can get you shot.

I would suggest you stop. The danger to yourself and any bad press it would give airsoft is something we don't need. There are alot of first class organizations in Washington. I suggest you contact them and play in some legal airsoft games.

Whenever airsofters play illegally, that's just another example of airsofters breaking the law. That makes everyone in the sport look bad. They don't isolate your experience, and say, "Well it's just NarleyNick who brakes the law!". Unfortunately, they group everyone together. Therefor all airsofters are breaking the law. That's just one more step to our sport being banned.

If you can justify that doing things illegally is just easier, what's the difference between stealing shit and selling it. It's easier than getting a job. Airsoft isn't harmless in the city, you can scare people with your "guns".

Dude, airsoft a hobbie, weather its convient or not. Firing your gun in public is only going to make it more inconvient for the rest of us!!! Most of us have to find rides and even then drive 30+ mins to a skirmish *you think thats convient*.

You don't have to be in a club to play, just read the stickies and show up to a game and play.

I wish most games were only 30 minutes away. I routinely drive 1 to 2 hours to go to a game. Those down in Corvalis and Eugene drive3 to 4 hours just to come up here and play.

I know that, but they are all so far away. I keep trying to persuade my parents to let me go, but they just won't budge. And I want to also because our airsoft matches contain at most about 16 people. But it is mostly around 6 or 7. IT SUCKS!!! That is one reason why I don't want to buy an expensive AEG like I said earlier.

Wait until you are 16, get a job, get a car, get your license.

Until then play some counter-strike, it's much safer for everyone that way.
