Reusing BBs

Postby Sleepy » Mon Mar 06, 2006 10:12 pm

Now, I know we're not supposed to reuse BBs. I do not do so, even though i stood onnear a pile at Grid 18 that could have sustained me for days.

but what if they only see the inside of the magazine? I have some Excel .23s that got loaded in a CA Hicap, but never got fired. I still have them, back in the bag. I felt conflicted, since they hadnt been fired or dropped, just loaded and then loaded. And then I watched Raddue dump an entire hicap into the trash.

I'm confuzzled. it would seem to me that since they saw neither chamber nor dirt, that they would still be usable.

What say we all?

I always unload my unfired mags right back into my jar of ammo. I havent seen any ill-effects while doing this.

Well, if the bb really has No blemishes such as dirt or dents than it should be fine. And if you think there might be something wrong with the bbs than you should just be safe and get rid of them.

Reuse is shooting it, picking it up, and loading it again.

The reason not to reuse: The BB can suffer from impact damage. (micro cracks in the surface of the BB, ones that you wont really see without really inspecting it) When the BB is shot again, it can easily fracture inside the hop up. When this happens, fragments are sucked back into the mechbox. O-rings, HopUp Buckings, and even gear teeth can be ruined by these fragments. It is the best option not to reuse BB's, it is just asking for a problem.

In the three AEGs I've owned, never in the two-something years I've been playing airsoft have I had any damage occur due to loading and unloading bbs. I always unload my magazines into my bb bag again. I carry 500+ rounds of ammo, which I don't think I've ever used all of.

Edited: Thanks for pointing that out Bill, I fixed it.

That was a misleading statement 5686. Reusing is shooting, retrieving, and shooting again. Unloading a mag isnt reusing, that is just common sense.

You mean "Shenanigans"?

I always have more fun when the hijinks are in cahoots with the shinannigans.

The fact that Zane answered for Farva only makes it better.
