Airsoft age.

Postby Gandhi » Fri Mar 03, 2006 11:01 pm

I know that this might seem to be a stupid question but please hear me out. Do you have to be 18 to own a GBB? Does anyone have a link to law or something that states ages to own airsoft guns? A freind of mine who lives at a boarding school with me had possession of a GBB and might get suspended if he can't prove that you don't have to be 18 to own a GBB. He never shot it on school he went off campus to private property to shoot it.

Thanks

It shouldn't be in school at all. Anything related to firearms AT ALL even squirt guns are not allowed in schools. It's damn right illegal in public schools, I don't know rules about private. But I have enough goddamn sense knowing that's just retarded. Don't try to fight the power, it's just for everyone else's saftey. You can't just assume some kid is holding a replica when Joe Public sees it as a real firearm.

Replicas should be treated as a real firearm. Even if it's okay for a minor to OWN a replica, it is up to the Guardian to choose that ability, and hopefully that Guardian isn't dumb enough to let his child have a Replica airsoft in a school.

At least tell him to leave it at his parents or something.

(And yes squirt guns can be dangerous in schools. What if some kid instead put chemicals into the loading bottle and sprayed it at another person's eye or sprays a flammable liquid onto another person/object/enviroment thus lighting a match and putting that person on fire.)

I was under the impression that you had to be 18. All the retailers I can think of won't sell to people under 18.
Plus, and no disrespect to your friend, but if he brought an airsoft gun to school, and suspension is the worst that's going to happen to him, I say let him learn the hard way. That was a pretty retarded move on his part to bring that to a school. He's lucky no one called the cops and that he's not shot as a result of that. Not such a smart move taking something that looks EXACTLY like the real thing to school, where weapons of all kinds are completely prohibited.
Remember, in most states, airsoft guns are considsered firearms, and treated as such in crimes (i.e. robbing a bank with an airsoft gun = armed robbery, just like if it was real). Your friend *could* face the same penalty as if he had brought a real gun to school.

Suspension is a walk in the park compared to that.

Maybe you should get in the habit of reading the post before you start busting the balls of its creator. He said his friend is in boarding school.

You have to be 18 to buy one. I don't know about the age of owning one.

I'm sorry i dont see any reason why hes fighting it. He probaley knew full well that he shouldnt have it at school. His fault he got caught. Gotta be 18. Blah blah blah. Heres the deal I m a grown a$$ man and I was told that I cant store an airsoft gun in my dorms and they have to be stored in the armories. Their is no rule regarding having peicses of airsoft guns so if i have to work on a gun i bring it my room in peices. And by peices I mean torn the shazaam down or i just bring back the internals I dont break the rules ragrading that and the reason is i dont want to get shot or get in trouble for some petty a$$ bullshit your freind should have kept it at some body elses house. So this thread should die. Besides if he didnt know for sure he it was legal or not why did he have it. That right their is bull shit. I wanted to buy some expencive smoke grenades to add to my kit so before i went out and bought one and yes im not talking over the intrenet im talking form another airsofter I went out made a damn phone call and found out if it was legal to own this particular smoke. Hes gettin off light with this so he shouldnt fight it or argue and people shouldnt be sypathising. Suck it up take the punishment and shut up.

Bottom line:
1.you should need to have parental consent to own a airsoft gun
2.airsoft guns should not be taken to school or anywhere else for that matter unless for a game or to take it somewhere to get it worked on
3. you or your freind i have no reason i dont know why i would beleive that it isnt you should suck it up, grow some balls, take the punishment and stop gettin my sport a bad rep.

Nobody should be saying aah that sucks and wishing him or you good luck. Rules like no real looking guns at school are ment to keep people that cant make a judgment as to wether it is too real safe.

I'm goofball and I aprove of this message.

I don't think Ghandi is 27. He goes to a boarding school at 27? Seriously... no. Maybe the age of you and the person you're talking about is 27 combined, but I don't believe it.

Nobody on this board will want to give answers to people who lie about something as simple as their age. Seriously, we don't give a flying shazaam, we just don't like douchebags. So far, you're a douchebag.

yeah go douche yourself Ghandi.

I don't see how you can possibly associate your actions with Airsoft. The local authorities have every right to classify you as a terrorist if you bring a replica weapon to school, even if it is just to show off. Having your weapon taken away and getting suspended should be the LEAST of your problems.
