ATF classifies JG GBB M4 as "firearm"

This is a cross post from the SA (Spokane Airsoft) forums, which was cross posted from the Arnies Airsoft site. Here are the links to both:

In essence, the BATFE (former ATF) tested a JG GBB M4 that was sent in to them, modified the lower heavily, attached it to a real steel upper, and fired 3 rounds of .223 ammunition through it. Because they were able to do this (after essentially compromising the structural integrity of the lower by working on it with a dremel), the Bureau has labeled these replicas as "firearms." I still question the validity of these tests, but that's where it stands right now.

This means that, unless a lawsuit goes up against them over it, it is likely that a number of importers and retailers could be having a good portion of product confiscated, as well as fines and potential legal consequences for, essentially, gun running. Assuming they make a move beyond this, of course.

Because in Soviet Amerika, the government is always watching. For our own good, of course.

You are late to the party, the band is already on the encore, and the appetizers are all cold...

Yeah let's not turn this in to a political debate. I know several people that many conservatives would classify as "socialists" that love guns to death.

The ATF has been doing crap like this for ages. A good example that comes to mind was the guy who's AR misfired two rounds in one trigger pull, and the ATF arrested and prosecuted him for possessing a "machine gun".

I think this is just another example of retarded government bureaucracy gone wrong.....kinda like DHS and the TSA.

Hey, if this sort of thing had happened under a Republican government, or even an independent party government (just for example), I would have used the exact same line. I'm not trying to make it a political debate, just trying to add a little fun to some bad news. I was using jokes about "Soviet Amerika" for years before the current administration.

And yes, you're right, the ATF is renowned for doing idiotic things like this. I just find it sad that they have nothing better to do with their lives.

Well, there's fashionably late... and at least I didn't miss the encore!

If the mods want to go ahead and lock this, as it's a double post (because I simply missed it), go for it. My bad.
